Author's Note - 4/22/2016: This is some minor Revisions. The revisions are including a couple items that are being included with the inclusion of A Rei of Light into the DoTC series. The first is the mention of sister's plural. And the second is Rei Mori. Buffy and Faith are being made made fraternal twin sisters and the only twins to ever been called simultaneously. Rei Mori is an Immortal Slayer, who had her first death in the late 1600's.

Buffy stood looking at Dawn and then at the end of the tower where the portal had opened. She made a decision in that instance that it would be her to jump instead of Dawn.
Dawn grabbed Buffy's arm and shook her head. She didn't know how, but she knew her destiny lay on the other side of that portal. "Listen to me, Buffy. It's not your destiny to jump, it's mine. I know it with every fiber of my being. I know where that portal goes I have to be. Just as I know I will return to you someday, I promise you that. It may take a few days, it could take a year but I will return I know it."
Buffy looked back at Dawn, she could see it in Dawn's eyes, that her youngest sister believed what she was saying. As she stared into Dawn's eyes she somehow knew that Dawn was right. "Then I won't say goodbye, and I won't give up hope that you will return. Promise me wherever you land you will live, for me and for Faith."
Dawn smiled and nodded. "I promise to live for both of you, for my sisters, I promise I will return. If I can find a way to send you a message I will." She turned and ran to the end of the platform. She dove off the end and fell into the portal below, disappearing as it closed.

The next morning a knock came at the door of the Summers home. Rei Mori, Buffy's lover, was the first there. She smiled at Giles and stepped aside. "What can I do for you, Giles?" she asked.
"Is Buffy and Faith home?" Giles asked as he crossed the threshold.
"Buffy! Faith!" Rei yelled as she led Giles into the living room.
The sisters came down the stairs and into the living room.
"Giles," Buffy said, "what are you doing here?"
"I have something for the both of you," Giles said as he looked at the sisters. "This letter has been in my families' possession for two hundred and sixty-three years since the year seventeen thirty-eight. From what my father told me and his before him. A young woman came to my ancestor saying she knew about Slayers, that her sisters, who at that time were the only twins to ever been called were Slayers. My ancestor believed her. There are several letters in my possession. My ancestor was given instructions not to hand them to the two you in one setting. I gave my word to my father when they came in to my possession that I would not deliver them till it was time."
Faith and Buffy looked at each other puzzled as Giles handed the envelope in his hands to Buffy.
Buffy ripped open the envelope and a letter fell out. She read it as tears came to her eyes and a smile crept onto her face. She looked to Faith. "Dawn's alive."
Faith took the letter from her sister and read over it and she too smiled. "This is the best news we've had in the last twenty-four hours."
"Are you sure?" Giles asked as he took the letter from Faith and read it.
Buffy nodded. "It's in her handwriting."

Dawn fell out of the portal into the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Looking around she saw through the fog the remains of a ship and a boy floating nearby. She swam over to the boy and checked for a pulse and nodded, he was alive. She grabbed grabs on to a piece of debris and held on as if her life depended on it.
Not for away from Dawn sailed the pride of the Royal Navy, the HMS Dauntless. Standing alone at the ship's bow was its youngest passenger. Elizabeth Swann was her name. Her small hands clutched the rail as she shivered in the cold as she began to sing:
"We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot. Drink up me 'earties yo ho! We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot. Drink up me 'earties yo ho! Yo ho, yo ho a pirate's life for me. We extort, we pilfer, we filch and sack. Drink up…"
Suddenly, a hand reached out and clutched Elizabeth's shoulder. "Quiet, missy!" snarled a seaman. "Cursed pirates sail these waters. You want to call 'em down on us?"
Elizabeth, the only twelve years old, stared, wide-eyes into the weather-beaten face.
"Mr. Gibbs!" Captain Norrington snapped at the old sailor.
"But she was singin' about pirates," Gibbs protested. "Bad luck to sing about pirates with us mired in this unnatural fog … mark my words."
"Consider them marked. On your way." Captain Norrington said.
"'Aye, Lieutenant." Gibbs said as he sighed and moved off to return to his duties. "Bad luck to have a woman on board, too. Even a mini'ture one."
Elizabeth knew she was expected to behave. She was on her way to Port Royal, Jamaica, where her father was going to be governor. "We must comport ourselves as befits our class," he reminded her as he joined her on deck. Elizabeth nod, but in her heart, she still wished to meet a pirate someday.
"I think it would be rather exciting to meet a pirate." Elizabeth muttered to herself.
"Think again, Miss Swann." Captain Norrington said. "Vile and dissolute creatures, the lot of
them. I intend to see to it that any man who sails under a pirate flag, or wears a pirate brand, gets
what he deserves: a short drop and a sudden stop."
Elizabeth doesn't know what a 'short drop and a sudden stop' means. She looks to Gibbs who helpfully mimes: a man being hung.
"Lieutenant Norrington..." Elizabeth's father said. "I appreciate your fervor, but I am concerned about the effect this subject will have on my daughter."
"My apologies, Governor." Captain Norrington said.
Quietly, she looked back out over the rail and stared into the deep green water. Sudden, she noticed something afloat on the waves. It was a parasol—a sight that much delighted Elizabeth. She was wondering where it could have come from when two much larger shapes slowly floated out on the foam. "Look!" Elizabeth shouted, pointing over the side. Two still bodies were now drifting toward the ship.
Captain Norrington reacted quickly. "Men overboard!" he shouted.
But Elizabeth could see that it wasn't a man. "Boys overboard!" she added mistaking the second person for a boy because of how the person was dressed. She recognized them to be someone about her own age.
"Man the ropes. Fetch a boat hook and haul them out of there!" Captain Norrington ordered the men on deck. Elizabeth watched the crew of the Dauntless swing the boat hooks and snag both of the bodies as they passed the ship.
Governor Swann, Elizabeth's father, helped Captain Norrington drag the first boy aboard as Gibbs and another sailor dragged the second 'boy', who was clearly a girl they noticed, aboard as Elizabeth move in for a closer look.
"He's still breathing." declared Norrington, his ear down by the boy's mouth.
"The girl is breathing as well." Gibbs said as he too had an ear down by the girl's mouth.
"But where did they come from?" asked Governor Swann.
The men of the Dauntless stood silent. The eyes of ever crewman were searching the sea for an answer when Gibbs suddenly gasped. "Mary mother of God..."
Looking out on the water, Elizabeth could now see the wreckage of a ship, along with the bodies of its crew. Then, slowly emerging from the fog came the charred and burning hull of the doomed ship itself.
Captain Norrington, fearing it was all the work of pirates, quickly ordered his men to prepare for battle. "Move the boy and the girl aft!" he shouted. "We need to clear the deck!"
Governor Swann pried Elizabeth's hand from the ship's rail and moved her away from the terrible sight. "Elizabeth, I want you to accompany the boy and girl." He said grimly to her as four sailors moved the boy and the girl's bodies behind the ship's wheel. "They are in your charge now. You'll watch over them."
Elizabeth nodded to her father. She went and knelt beside the boy and girl as her father hurried away. She brushed the boy's hair gently away from his forehead before doing the same for the girl. Their eyes fluttered open and looked at her.
"My name is Elizabeth Swann," she told them.
"Will Turner," whispered the boy.
The girl looks at Elizabeth for an instance debating whether to give the girl her real name. Finally she decides it does not matter. "Dawn Summers."
"I'm watching over you, Will, Dawn," Elizabeth said, trying to comfort them, but the boy had slipped already back into unconsciousness as Dawn closed her eyes.
The boy's movements had opened the collar of his shirt, and Elizabeth saw that he was wearing a gold chain with a medallion. She tugged it free from his neck and turned it over in her hand, hoping it might provide her a clue to the boy's identity. To her amazement, there, etched into the metal, was a skull and crossbones!
"Why, you're a pirate." Elizabeth whispered.
Dawn opened her eyes and looked at Elizabeth for a brief instance before closing them again as she thought to herself. 'Pirates? Where am I?'
Elizabeth quickly hid the medallion under her coat as Captain Norrington passed by.
"Did they speak?" he, asking standing over Will and Dawn's bodies.
"His name is William Turner," Elizabeth replied. "Hers is Dawn Summers. That's all I found out."
"Very good," said Captain Norrington, and moved on.
When Elizabeth felt sure the captain would not return, she took out the gold medallion from her coat to give it one more look. But a sight that left her too frightened to move or cry out suddenly claimed all her attention. Through the fog came a tall ship with great black sails. From its topmost mast it flew a flag—a skull and crossbones! And as the ship slipped back into the fog to escape the cannon fire of the Dauntless, the skull flag seemed to turn toward Elizabeth and smile.
The next day Dawn awakened to find Elizabeth standing next to her bed. "Good morning, Dawn. How are you feeling?"
"Much better, thanks," said Dawn as she smiled.
"So how come you were on the ship?" Elizabeth asked out of curiosity.
Dawn wasn't sure she should tell the whole truth. If she was right that she was somewhere in the past that meant she had to try and maintain a low profile till what she had been sent to do was completed and she could return home. "My parents are dead; I and my sisters were heading for the colonies to start a new life. Did they save my sisters, also?" She knew Buffy and Faith weren't there but back in Sunnydale, but she had to make the story believable.
Elizabeth let out a sigh and shook her head as she stared at Dawn. "I am sorry only you and Will Turner were pulled out of the water. There were no other survivors."
Dawn nodded as she closed her eyes and pretended to grieve as Governor Swann stepped up next to Elizabeth. He noticed the tears that Dawn was forcing herself to shed. "Is everything ok, Elizabeth?" he asked.
Elizabeth shook her head and pulled her father aside, "No father, she was traveling with her sisters. From what she said her parents are gone and it was only her and her sisters left….."
Governor Swann let out a sigh and looked towards Dawn. "She has no family left, then." He felt his heart go out to her and came to a decision that was an easy one to make. He would take Dawn in and care for her himself. "Elizabeth if what you say is true, she has no relatives left. I want her to come live with us. Do you think you would like having a sister?"
Elizabeth smiled, "I would like that father."

Dawn woke up with a start as she looks around the room she shares with Elizabeth. It had been nearly a year since she had arrived here and today was her birthday. She felt her heart ache at the thought of not being able to spend it with Buffy or her friends back home.
Elizabeth looked over at Dawn from her bed and noticed the sad look on her friend's face. "Dawn is everything alright?"
Dawn smiled sadly and nodded, "Today is my birthday, it will be the first one without Buffy, Faith or any of my friends there to share it."
Elizabeth nodded as she got out of bed and move to sit on Dawn's. She pulled her friend into a hug as she tried to comfort her. "I know I'm a poor substitute for the family you lost, but you have me, Dawn. I will celebrate your birthday with you, as well will father."
"Thank you." Dawn said and smiled at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth nodded and got her dressing gown and left the room only to return a moment later with her father, "Elizabeth tells me today is your birthday." Governor Swann said. "I understand from what she said you're having a hard time of it this morning because of the loss of your family. I was going to wait till you were ready, but I have decided I would like to adopt you, Dawn. If that is alright for you, me and Elizabeth would like to become your new family here."
Dawn nodded as she wiped her tears from her eyes, "Thank you, sir. I would like that a lot. I know you will never be a replacement for my family, and I wouldn't want you to be. But it will be nice though to have someone I can call family here."
Governor Swann nodded as Elizabeth sat back down on Dawn's bed pulling her in to an embrace again, "You're welcome, Dawn. I will go see about getting a party setup for you this evening to announce your adoption in to my family as well as to celebrate your birthday."
Dawn nodded as Governor Swann left her and Elizabeth alone. She turned to face her soon to be sister. "I guess I can call you sister now. In a way though that's sad cause it means to me that Buffy and Faith are gone and I'm not going to see them again. I had held out a little hope that I might see them again."
"I don't mind if you don't call me sister." Elizabeth said, and she meant it. Dawn was her friend and she did not want to take the place of Dawn's sisters, Buffy or Faith. "I know it may be too early for that kind of relationship."
Dawn smiled and nodded.
Late that evening Dawn after the party, she snuck out of the house. She walked about till she saw what she was looking for, a young woman no older than she was. "Good evening, Slayer."
The young woman turned and faced Dawn, "You are no vampire. How do you know I am a Slayer?"
"Let's just say you're not the first Slayer I've met." Dawn said. "I need to speak to your Watcher."
The Slayer nodded as she looked at Dawn. She turned and led Dawn to the home that she shared with her Watcher.
"Danielle who is this?" The Watcher asked upon their entry into the small residence
"I am Dawn Marie Summers." Dawn said as she did a small curtsy. One of the first things Governor Swann had taught her was how to curtsy. "I have something I wish to discuss with you in private, Watcher."
The Watcher nodded and dismissed Danielle to return to her patrol. He quickly went and made them a cup of tea as they talked. "What do you wish to discuss?"
"Do you believe in time travel?" Dawn asked already knowing the answer.
"No." The Watcher shook his head as he glanced back at Dawn.
"I am going to tell you a story, it will be hard to believe but it's all true." Dawn said. "Once it's over I will give you an envelope, that you will hand over to only someone you trust to hold for two hundred and sixty-three years."
Dawn went on to tell the Watcher about Buffy, Faith and herself, about how she came to be here. The Watcher listened to the story holding any comments till Dawn had finished. He looked her over trying to get any inclination that she had made the story up. But he could find none; his instincts told him that she was telling the truth. "That is quite a story," said the Watcher. "I don't believe you're crazy, it would be a tale I don't think even a crazy person could come up with. Plus you know about Slayers, to be a sister to the only fraternal twins to be called and the amonst the longest is remarkable. You said you had a letter that will be held for two hundred and sixty-three years? I assume you want me to give it to your sisters on a pre-determined date?"
"Yes." Dawn said as she handed him the letter. "I must insist you give the letter to only someone you trust. If someone were to find out I am from the future…."
The watcher nodded in understanding, "You would be sought out for that information. I will send the letter to my son and make sure it stays within my family for that time."
"I never asked your name." Dawn said. She was curious as to whom the man was.
"William Rupert Giles," The watcher said.
