Chapter1
It was a sunny afternoon. And I can see pollen and dust flying around. I clutched the flowers in my hand tightly as I run towards home. The muddy road from this morning dried up and I no longer need to worry about getting new mud on my shoes. My mom and dad went to town this morning. And so i needed to stay over with our neighbor. Our neighbor has a daughter same as my age and her name is Annie. Today, we went near the river and throw stones with her brother Simon. As I was getting nearer to our house, Abel went barking and waging his tail as he saw me. There was a car parked beside the oak tree. I wonder what happened to our truck. Abel licked my arms and stained dirt on my dress. We went together inside to see my parents. But when I got inside, I found my aunt Susanna instead together with two gentlemen I never saw before. The moment she saw me, she stood from her seat and grabbed me it hurts. She looked at my confused face for a moment before hugging me tightly. My face got burried on her chest, and I can smell her sweet perfume. She started crying. Abel was barking and I think he wanted to know what was happening. Aunt Susanna released me. Maybe she got distracted by Abel and realized too that she needed to speak. But before she can say anything, I blurted out. " Where is mom and dad?"
She looked at me as if I said something horrible. She rubbed her throat as if she was trying to choke. And then the gentleman who wears black coat cleared his throat. I looked at him. He is older than my dad. And bigger too. He got a round stomach that looks like similar to a pregnant woman. I wonder if men can get pregnant too. I dont really know. When I asked my mom why men cant get pregnant she just smiled at me and said that I'm too young to know.
" Your name is Daisy right?" He smiled at me.
I nodded." Yes. Just like the flower."
He laughed.
"Where are my parents?" I said again. He stopped laughing and suddenly got a stern look on his face. He came to me and kneel on the floor so that he can see my face clearly.
"I'm sorry." He said softly. I did not know but my heart became wild in my chest.
" They are gone" he said. And now my knees are like jelly I got worried Im gonna fall on the ground.
My aunt started crying loudly this time. And Abel started barking again. For a brief moment, I thought I couldnt hear anything. And that the room is spinning. But then again I can hear Abel and my aunt at once. And I started to shake and cry too. I was just nine.
