Tell Me Again...
"Was it love at first sight?" Yuugi asked innocently. His darker half looked at him, with his own questioning gaze, "Excuse me?" Atem managed to gain a second chance at life as a gift from the gods. Since then they have been living together, going to school, you know, normal teenager stuff now. They both felt a spark for each other, but neither tried to explore it for a simple reason; they were afraid of the change it bring. Being in a relationship and being friends are two different worlds, but apparently today Yuugi wanted to finally mix things up after a year and take a risk. For the next few days they were watching the game shop for Yuugi's grandfather who was off in America visiting Arthur and Rebecca.
"I asked, was it love at first sight for you?" the small teen stated calmly. The ex-Pharaoh kept his cool and managed to only have a slight tinge of pink glow right under his eyes, "I don't know what you mean, Yuugi." To avoid looking at his light, he picked up a rag and a spray bottle and began using it to wipe down shelves that collectibles were neatly placed upon. "You know exactly what I mean," he pressed, sitting on a chair, resting his feet up on the counter causing the chair to balance on just two of its legs.
"Why are you asking me this now?" he asked, blatantly avoiding the question. "Because, I'm curious." And like that, both of them put on their best poker faces as this just became a test of wills. Who is going to confess first? "And why, my dear Aibou, would you be curious about something like that?"
"Because I read it in a magazine and wanted to know if love at first sight was true."
"Well, why would you expect me to know?"
"Because you're waaay older, therefore wiser." Emphasis on 'way'.
"And you decided to admit this now, instead of other times, like when we're playing games?"
"It's not my fault you're technology challenged."
"It's not my fault I wasn't born this millennium."
"So?"
"So what?"
"Answer my question."
"Yes."
At that, Yuugi fell out of his wobbling chair and on to his back landing with a loud, THUD!
Atem quickly put down the cleaning supplies, and automatically went to help his aibou up. He put his hands on Yuugi's shoulders and propped him up to a sitting position, "Are you alright, Aibou?"
Yuugi rubbed the back of his head, wincing slightly at the pain, "Yeah, it's just I wasn't expecting you to give up so easily."
Atem took Yuugi's hand that was rubbing the sore spot and interlaced their fingers. He lightly brushed his lips against where his Aibou was rubbing. "And I wasn't expecting you to ask such an obvious question."
Yuugi smiled victoriously, taking advantage of the fact they were both sitting on the floor to take back his hand, turn around, place the palms of his hands on either side of Yami for support and lean in close, their faces and inch apart, "Tell me again, was it love at first sight?" All Yami could do was simply nod before his Aibou planted a soft kiss on his lips.
