Elphaba glared at all of the people around her. Girls were squealing to each other and talking loudly about what this person did at this time at this place. Boys were laughing and acting obnoxiously, trying to be the center of attention. Needless to say, Elphaba didn't like being in the diner.
"Oo! Elphie, look! They have a new shake!" Galinda gestured as she pointed down at the menu. "'The Sweetheart Split.'"
Sweetheart Split? Elphaba thought to herself. How ironic.
"Let's try it, Elphie." Galinda signaled to the waiter that they were ready to order.
Elphaba sighed, wondering just what she had gotten herself into. Galinda was known to push at society's standards, expressing to the world exactly who she was. When she had kissed Elphaba in the middle of the quad during lunch, well, to say that the school was upset would be an understatement.
"Elphie, here." Galinda brought the green teen out of her musing, poking her with a spoon to signal that their dish had arrived.
The Sweetheart Split was a strawberry milkshake that had three scoops of chocolate on top, with a vanilla scoop on top of that, bananas cut length wise sticking out from the glass, had a snowy top of whipped cream covered by a chocolate drizzle, a light dose of sprinkles, and, of course, two stemmed cherries on top.
"Doesn't it look great, Elphie?" Elphaba felt sick just from looking at the amount of sugar in front of her. But, as her obligation to Galinda as her girlfriend, she picked up the spoon, handed it to her and carefully started eating, lest the pile of ice cream and whipped cream should fall.
A half hour later, the chocolate and vanilla were gone, and Galinda stuck two straws into the left over shake. She giggled, as Elphaba looked warily at the straw.
"Come on, Elphie. This is the best part."
"And why is that?" Elphaba looked skeptically at the blonde. Galinda huffed and pouted.
"Because this is the part where we drink the shake and stare into each other's eyes." The green teen blushed and looked away.
"Oh, okay." Elphaba hesitantly met Galinda's eyes, quietly slurping away at the milkshake. Galinda smiled at took her straw between her lips, losing herself in Elphaba's eyes.
