A/N: Hey all. This is a romance, which is what I write most of the time. It's gonna be a little bit sad, so be aware! :D Incest. No likie, no readie. Okay? :D
Hinata Hyuuga closed her large lavender eyes, breathing in the mouth-watering scent of baking chocolate-chip cookies. She sat on the counter, smiling. She knew full well that she wasn't allowed to eat cookies; Neji had told her that they would fatten her up and she'd be slower in battles. But, luckily for her, Neji was out on an S Ranked mission, and he wouldn't be back until tomorrow.
The oven dinged, and she hopped off the granite counter with excitement. She hadn't had cookies for as long as she could remember. She swiped the green sunflower-covered oven mits off the counter and got the cookies out, the smell of the treats beckoning to her. Using a spatula, she took a single cookie off the tray and stuck it in her mouth. It was extremely hot, but it was heaven; it melted in her mouth. She sighed in ecstasy.
Her father, Hiashi, came into the kitchen. "Hinata. I have to tell you something." He had a grave look on his face, as usual.
She swallowed. "Yes, Father? What's wrong?"
He cleared his throat, an emotionless look on his old face. "Neji… won't be coming back from his mission. He was killed in action."
Hinata dropped her cookie, and it broke apart on the clean linoleum floor. Tears swelled up in her eyes as Hiashi left the room. Neji-niisan… she thought. She was overcome with rage. Hinata grabbed the scalding hot pan of cookies and threw it to the floor. Her hands were burned, but she didn't care. Angry tears flowed freely down her cheeks. She fell to the ground, angry sobs racking her body.

It was the next day, and the day of Neji's funeral. Hinata and Hiashi were dressed in all black, and Hinata's eyes were still blurred with tears. Lady Tsunade was performing the funeral. She stepped up to the podium, her black cloak flapping in the gentle breeze. Sobs could be heard all around, specifically from Tenten, Lee, Gai, and Hinata. Hiashi's face stayed neutral. Tsunade cleared her throat. "Neji Hyuuga… he was a great man, and an even better shinobi. He had a big heart… and he surely will be missed. Let us have a moment of silence for this amazing ninja." Everyone bowed their heads, sobs echoing in Hinata's ears. She felt sick, and she just wanted to flee from the pain and sorrow. But she knew fully well that she couldn't, and she'd never see her nii-san's face again.
Neji was buried accordingly, and everyone left except Hinata. The breeze blew her dark hair about her face. Neji had said that it looked pretty long, so she kept it long. She clasped her still charred hands together, and stood by the small headstone. It read, 'Here lies Neji Hyuuga, a great man and an even better shinobi.'
Something, or rather, someone, tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around, and there was Neji. A tear escaped her eye. "Neji…"
He stroked her cheek gently, his eyes glimmering. "I love you, Hinata. I'll wait for you, my love." He kissed her forehead and turned around, disappearing into the horizon.
