Disclaimer - Naruto isn't mine, but I wish it was.
It's only been two days since I last saw Kakashi-san, but it already seems like he'd taken over my mind. I don't know what it is about him, but I just can't stop thinking about him. I leaned back against the rough wood of the bridge I was standing on and sighed. I heard the distant rumble of thunder in the distance as I check my watch to see what time it was.
"6:43. He's late," I thought.
I stuffed my hands in my pockets and exhaled slowly. I watched as the water under the bridge flowed quietly, reminding me of how we first met at the ninja academy. I gave myself a little inward smile as I saw him in my own memory, so serious and determined, and laughed as I saw him sneak looks in his little orange book.
The sun was setting, casting it's last ray of light over Konoha before the rain clouds came to swallow it up. There were soft colors of pinks, oranges, and reds that danced over the horizon, bathing me in warm sunlight. I checked my watch again.
"6:55. I don't think he's coming…" I sighed to myself.
As I started to walk home, I couldn't help but feel depressed.
"Haha, yhea sure. I'll meet you at the bridge at 6!" he said, turning his back and giving a small wave. Looking up, I felt the first drop of rain hit my cheek and gave a sad smirk.
"Figures…"
I walked home in the rain that night, and it felt as though a little piece of me died with every step I took. And as if I didn't feel any worse, I swore the Gods were laughing at me, cause it seemed to rain even harder.
Upon walking up to my front door, I saw a quick flash of gray hair and a kunai thrown at my feet. I looked around for him, but it seemed as though he vanished into thin air.
"Sorry I'm late…" I heard a gruff voice behind me. "…but I forgot to get these." He held out a small batch of white roses.
I felt the beginnings of tears forming and tried to blink them away. It was like all my sadness disappeared just from hearing his hoarse voice.
"You…you never w..were on time, were you?" I asked, laughing a bit.
He walked toward me and embraced me. He smelt nice. I put my head on his shoulder and we just stood there in the rain, soaking up the feelings we had for each other.
He lifted my chin and gave me a long sensuous kiss. I couldn't help but get lost in those eyes of his.
"I'll never be late again for you…Iruka…"
