Sarah frolicked with the friends she had made for a brief time, unaware of the barn owl that had flown back to her windowsill.
When there was a lull in the festivities, Sarah looked at Sir Dydimus. "I didn't hurt him, did I? Is he okay?"
The owl outside nearly fell off the sill with shock.
Sir Dydimus looked down. "The king is unharmed in the flesh, my lady. As for the spirit, only time will tell."
Hoggle scoffed, "Who cares?"
"I care, Hoggle!" Sarah shot back. To herself she added, "He looked so lost when I said those stupid words."
Dydimus and the Wise Man looked at each other with hope in their eyes. Sir D spoke hesitantly to his lady, "Do you wish to take them back, my lady? If you could?"
Sarah sighed, a melancholy look in her vibrant green eyes. "I would have liked to have had more time to make a different decision. I would have liked to stay, but I had to get Toby back. I love him and I'm selfish that way."
The Wise Man stated in a calm voice, "So you denied your own happiness for that of your brother's? Most commendable, my dear."
Sarah looked at the old man with his strange hat. "Do you think Jareth will ever forgive me? I really didn't mean to break up that beautiful room."
Jareth, sitting outside the window listened with shock. It seemed that Sarah had seen through his villainous act. Taking a chance, he opened her window and slipped inside. His mismatched eyes warmed as he took in his rival. Her hair was mussed and she had a smudge of dirt on her cheek. The baggy poet shirt still hid her curves, much to his irritation.
Mortal and Fae stared at each other in a strange way. It was clear to the subjects of the Underground that there was a connection between the two monarchs. It was Sarah who made the first move.
"That was for not telling me why you were really there," she said, smacking a surprised Goblin King on the chest. "That was for the hallucinogenic peach," she smacked him again, "That was for not telling me the truth to begin with," she smacked him harder before pulling him down to her. "And this is for everything else!" With that statement Sarah pulled him into a kiss.
Sarah gasped at the tingling sensation Jareth's mouth gave. He took advantage and his tongue swept in, claiming her for his own. Lights burst behind Sarah's eyes as her knees buckled. Strong arms caught her as with a wave of his hand Jareth sent everyone back to the Underground.
He carried her to the bed, sweeping the scrabble game off of it and onto the floor. He left her mouth briefly in order to lavish her face with kisses. Jareth didn't leave an inch of her face untouched.
"Jareth," she moaned, pulling him back to her mouth, punishing him for not kissing her hard enough. Jareth willing returned the ferocity of the kiss, deepening it, tasting her fully.
"Sarah," he whispered against her mouth.
"We" kiss "should" kiss "stop." KISS.
"No," Jareth said hoarsely. "We should do this forever. I thought I'd lost you, damn your innocent eyes." He moved to her neck, doing things that made her gasp.
"Jareth, please?" Sarah cried out pulling him closer. Jareth rested his forehead against hers and tried to control his breathing.
"I did it all wrong," he admitted. "You're the only woman I've tried to court for a very long time. I'm afraid I'm out of practice. Tell me what to do? Rearrange the stars? Tell me and I'll do it."
Sarah was still breathing heavily. "I need some time. I'm so sorry I hurt you, I didn't want to, but Toby…"
Jareth moved back and smiled down at the woman in his arms. "Entirely understandable, precious thing. Don't ever leave me again though."
"Forever?" Sarah asked, looking into his eyes. It amazed her how those eyes could be so cruel and kind at the same time.
"Not long at all," he agreed, bending down to kiss her once more.
