The hospital was a new place for Clark. In his six years of life he couldn't remember ever having to be there. He was there because his father had broken a bone in his hand working on the farm and had to have it x-rayed. He sat quietly with his mother in the hall. They were in Topeka to see a specialist. It felt like he was waiting forever. Until finally his father emerged with a cast on his hand.
"Well they put this thing on my hand but I still have to go see someone in the other side of the hospital" he said.
"Ok I just got to take a trip to the little girls room, you go on a head" she turned and looked down at Clark "Now can you stay here for a little bit and not get into trouble".
"Yes Mom" he said nodding his head.
"Ok". Johnathan said and turned down the hall and walked away. Martha smiled at Clark and turned the corner to the bathroom. She was reluctant to leave him out of her site. Ever since she saw him run a cross the county in seconds.
Clark sat there swinging his legs back and forth, but then he heard something around the corner. He knew his mother didn't want him to move but he felt like there was something wrong.
He got up and walked around the opposite corner his mother did. He found the source of the sound. It was a girl about his age, but just a little older. She was even a little taller then he. She was leaning against the wall next to a door to one of the hospital rooms. Her arms were crossed and she was looking at the ground as tears ran down her face. Clark walked in front of her and realized that she was crying heavily
"Whats wrong"? he said.
The girl raised her head and looked at him in the eyes. She quickly brushed the tears from her face.
"My...my Mom is sick" she said in between deep breaths.
He could tell there were two people in the room taking to each other.Clark looked back into her watery green eyes and thought of what to do. Then an idea popped into his head. He didn't have full control of his speed yet but he had to try.
"Whats your favorite kind of flower"? he said.
"Daisy's... why"? but then there was a rush of wind and no one there. She looked down the the hall then the other way and the strange boy was no where to be seen.
Clark began looking ever where he could. Until finally he found what he was looking for. "Daisy's would be the farthest away" he thought.
There was another rush of wind in front of the girl. She turned to the direction it came from but she saw nothing. But she did fell something in her hair. She reached up and grabbed it. It was a freshly picked daisy. She smelled it, looked around, and smiled. She didn't know it, but she fell in love with that boy that day, and in many ways she still is.
Clark was waiting at the same spot he was left by his mother when she came back around the corner.
"Ready to go"? She said and reached out her hand. "Yep" he said and grabbed her hand and they walked away together.
Clark's mind was full of the events of the last few days. Every thing from pulling down a helicopter to Lois giving him a lap dance. His mind was far from what he was doing. Taking boxes out of his room and loading them into his truck. He was helping Lois move to the Talon apartment.
He lifted a box full of books, but something fell out. He looked down and saw what it was. A compressed daisy in a piece of plastic. He was crouching on the ground with it in his hand when Lois came from down stairs. Something about it seemed familer.
"Hey Lois, whats this"? he said still looking at it.
Lois quickly reached down and grabbed it out of his hand. "Nothing" she said and stuffed it into her pocket as she walked away.
"Come on Smallville we don't have all day" she yelled from down stairs.
Clark still couldn't remember where he had seen it before. But he picked up the box and followed her down stairs. "Coming Lois" he yelled back.
