Spoilers for 'Dark Water'. This is how the 'Danny and the DELETE button' scene could play out.
Danny's trembling finger hovered over the 'Delete' button. It was time, he decided. Time to just go. He was dead, anyway, and Clara had practically admitted she wasn't coming for him. His finger stabbed down.
A slender hand caught his arm, roughly twisting it away. The same hand grabbed the iPad, and held it up. The hand belonged to a woman that looked like she was in her twenties. She had long, shoulder-length brown hair that had a halo of friz about it and a scattering of freckles about her face. She was dressed in a simple grey dress and crimson combat boots. Danny stared at her sudden arrival.
"Sorry about that," she told him in a plummy English accent, still examining the iPad with a distinct air of distrust. "But, trust me, you really do not want to do that."
Danny gaped for a moment or two before finding his voice. "I'm sorry, I was about to commit suicide here. I'd prefer it if you didn't get in the way! Who are you, anyway?"
She glared at him with a look he had only seen from the Doctor before. "Like I said, you do not want to do that. You can call me Fred, Mr Pink. And, right now, we need to save Clara Oswald from never existing."
She raised her eyebrows, tucking the iPad under her arm. "Are you with me or not?"
He made up his mind. "I'm with you.. Miss Fred."
She raised her eyebrows. "'Miss Fred'? You sound like the Doctor now. Are you one of his future incarnations, then?"
He stepped back quickly. "You know the Doctor?"
She coughed. "Well... yes, I suppose you could say that."
Danny wanted to clarify. "I'm sorry, Scottish man in a magician suit, has a habit of insulting maths teachers?"
'Fred' blinked. "...is that what he looks like now? And I thought the scarf was bad... dear Rassilon." She shook her head. "Yes, I know him. Are you quite finished with the questions now?" She pulled a device from behind her ear, and flicked a switch on it, quickly scanning the iPad. It fizzled and emitted a sad wisp of grey smoke.
Danny wasn't finished. "How, exactly, do you know him? Did he kidnap you or something?"
She snorted, flicking her hair back. "Not a chance. If you think about it closely, it's more like, I kidnapped him." She scratched her head. "On second thoughts, forget that. That makes no sense at all."
There was a slight pause.
"Anyway," Fred sounded like she wanted to change the subject. "I've been looking for the Doctor for a very long time. And predictably, when I find him, he's in the middle of trouble. Honestly, that man..."
"How did you lose him, then? He seems difficult to lose, if you know what I mean."
"Well, I ordered him to end a war by any means possible, and he, as usual, decided to end civilisation as we knew it. He probably thought it was funny." She scowled. "Enough chatter. We have work to do."
