A/N: Woo. My first fanfic. Literally. I've never written a fanfic in my life.

Yet I see all these wonderful fanfics featuring my favorite characters and I wondered if I could pull it off.

So I attempted to write (or rather, type) one. It's short... really short.

Ame is an OC I created for the fun of it. And I am currently developing on her character.

So... let me know what you think.

An amateur's work starts below:

The little kunoichi gently nudged Kiba awake. Once Kiba opened his eyes, she put a finger to her lips. Kiba nodded and grinned, knowing what the plan was for tonight. He carefully kicked back his sleeping bag with Akamaru's help.

Ame, meanwhile, was fishing in her bag for something. Kiba already knew what it was.

She pulled the item out. It was a ball of thread that lay in the palm of her small hand. She unraveled it, making it about 20 feet in length. The Inuzuka marveled at its extension.

She took one end of it while Kiba took the other. Both of them went to their designated "victims."

Kiba inwardly groaned when he realized that Hinata had both of her hands inside of her sleeping bag. She was also a light sleeper. This was going to be difficult.

Ame carefully examined Shino as he slept. His chest rose and fell steadily. His face was relaxed. He was still sleeping. He even seemed to be grinning a little, as strange as that looked. She smiled, slowly taking his hand and beginning her work.

Hinata woke up with the sunlight in her eyes. She quickly closed them, still emerging from the land of dreams.

She lay there, not wanting to wake up, but not wanting to sleep either. She kept her eyes shut and thought about the dream she had, not remembering most of it. The most significant things she could recall were the moon and stars in the night sky she had looked up at… and Shino.

She then wondered: Why Shino? Why did she dream about him? Why was he there, in a mind that usually thought of Naruto? What made him appear?

Too many questions. Hinata thought. I need to relax. It was just a dream.

Yet it seemed so real.

The dream came rushing back to her. She remembered it all.

Shino was there, in front of her, beneath the moon and stars, beneath the night sky. He was the one who stroked back her hair, tucking it back behind her ear. He was the one that kissed her on the forehead, and then vanished from sight.

She slowly opened her eyes, letting them adjust, and looked over at Shino, who was still sleeping.

The smile that appeared on her face was small. Shino looked at peace when he was sleeping. His brow wasn't furrowed, like it normally was, and he didn't have a frown on his face. He was calm, content.

That's when she realized there was something wrapped around her little finger.

She looked down at it. There was a red piece of string tied around her pinky, and it extended away from her.

Hinata followed its path, realizing that it was leading to Shino. Her eyes widened a bit in surprise.

She glanced again at the red string beginning at her finger. This wasn't here when she went to sleep…

Then she came to a conclusion. Those little trouble-makers.

The kunoichi sensed movement way on the opposite side of her, from Shino. He was awake. And was looking at the string tied around his own little finger.

Hinata tentatively looked up to see his face, and couldn't tell what his expression was. Was it surprise, amusement? Annoyance?

"Hinata…" His eyes met hers.

And she blushed a deep crimson.
