Monroe walked into the shop the next morning after telling Nick that he had seen Juliette kissing Captain Renard in the shop the other day. He didn't know how he knew it or why he knew it, but he knew that it had to be connected to Juliette's memory loss. The only one he knew would know the answer was out of town helping her aunt with her recovery, but he knew she was just a phone call away. He also knew she needed to be updated.
Monroe picked the phone and sped dialed Rosalee.
"Hello, Monroe," Rosalee said, "I was just about to call you."
"Looks like I beat you to it," Monroe replied.
"I wanted to tell you that I'll be home in a few days," Rosalee told him.
"Well, that's a relief," Monroe replied unsteadily.
From the way his voice was, Rosalee could tell something was wrong. "Is there something I should know?" she asked. "Is it the shop?"
"No," Monroe replied certainly thinking to calm her down in that department. "It's about Nick."
"What about Nick?" Rosalee asked concerned. She had known Nick only a short time, but she considered him a good friend. Hell, he even solved her brother's murder, and that was enough for her.
"Well, it's more about Juliette," he told her.
"Is her memory about Nick back?" Rosalee asked.
"Stop," Monroe replied. "No, her memories of him aren't back yet, but do you remember how we created that substance so she wouldn't lose all of her memories?"
"Yes," Rosalee said. "She remembers you."
"I think there's more to it," Monroe told her. "Nick's captain came into the shop the other day and told me that he was powerfully attracted to someone and it was only getting worse."
"So..."
"It's Juliette," he said. "He brought her in here the other day because they were both having the powerful attraction, and they were kissing."
"That doesn't sound like the Juliette I remember," Rosalee said. "She really was quite in love with Nick before all this happened-before she lost her memory. Even after losing her memory, I don't think she would've cheated on Nick."
"Neither do I," Monroe replied.
A light bulb went off in Rosalee's mind as things started to piece together. "Oh," she said. "Oh, boy. I think I know what's going on."
"Would you mind filling me in?" Monroe asked.
"Yeah," she said. "The cat scratched Juliette, and therefore, she had fallen asleep."
"We know that already," he said.
"Yes," Rosalee replied, "but she would've needed to be woken up, and if you're saying that Nick's captain is the one attracted to her, he has to be a royal and somehow pure of heart. Though, I believe he could've made a potion, but he did it is not important."
"He's the only one who could have woken her up," Monroe concluded as he caught on. "So what do we do?"
"Okay," Rosalee said. "I know there has to be potion recipe somewhere in the shop, but I don't remember what book it was in."
"I'll scour through books until you get here," Monroe replied.
"I'm moving my schedule, Monroe," Rosalee replied. "I'll be home tonight."
