"You're a loser, Rock Lee!" came the abusive snide remark of a young kunoichi as she and her gaggle of friends looked down on the boy with no chakra system.
Rock Lee was currently lying in the dirt, courtesy of Ami and Mai. He felt his eyes stinging with barely restrained tears as he struggled to get to his feet.
Sadly, however, Mai wasn't having that and she sat on his back with a wicked smirk. As the boy squirmed beneath her, the princess ruffled his hair. "You know I could get used to this. If you ever give up on your crush over my twin, I'll gladly take you, Rocky-kun."
Rock frowned, unsure how to accept the girl's "affection". He settled for giving up on his struggles and dropping his face back into the dirt while Mai got off and retreated with her sister and friends, all laughing at Lee's expense.
###Line break###
Well, thought Rock Lee as he reminisced on the past, that's been my life in a nutshell... That is until a few moments ago...
The young man stood to his full height. Gone was his green jumpsuit which he proudly wore when training with his Jounin instructor.
The weights that normally anchored the teen to the ground sat off to the side.
Rock Lee looked down at his right hand spying an odd ring with what appeared to be a lantern, glowing a shade of green.
His body was wrapped in a skin-tight bodysuit even more snug than the one Gai had him wear for training.
"Perhaps, Gai-sensei knew this would happen to me?" he mused as he focused his will into the ring, surrounding himself in a glowing green aura. "There will be time to reflect on those thoughts later," he noted as he looked up into the sky at an approaching black mass of goo.
With a confident nod of his head, Rock Lee raced into the sky with his green shroud glowing like a burning flame. "Yosh!" he cried as he created a giant fist that punched the blob, shoving it back into space with the Lantern close on its heels.
The black mass writhed and thrashed uselessly sending inky tendrils to slap and strike at Lee, only for the Lantern to dash in strafing patterns faster than the creature could keep up with.
Before the mass could retract on itself Lee used his ring to form dozens of kunai that littered the darkness with holes before the green energy constructs burst.
The darkness faded in the brilliant light, reduced by half its original size.
Rock Lee gave a nice guy pose as he watched the mass flee from his home world. "And, do not return!" he threatened as a sparkle dashed across his teeth.
OoOoOoO
A bit crackfic-like, but I have to keep Lee in his character. Not to worry, I will revisit Lee. As to Mai and Ami, we will see them again in ways you can't imagine.
But, why would I call them princesses? I can hear you asking it already. Just wait and you'll find out!
