(First Meeting)
A doll was made from simple wood and strings, into a being of beauty. They move simply to entertain those that made them and wanted them to be made. There was never a destiny, there was only a mission to induce joy.
There was never love.
I was a doll made for similar purposes. My creators gave me life so that I could perform no other doll could- to sing, to dance, to smile and to move with detached strings. Yet no matter how different I am, I am still a doll, made simply of wood and strings. I was made with a mission just like the others, and I never thought of any other than to do what I had been told since my birth.
I sing, I dance, I move.
Years passed, and slowly, there were no one around in this town to hear and watch me anymore.
Alone, so alone, till a little boy in shabby clothing entered the town, "Would you like a song?" I asked him.
"Would you sing for me?" He wondered aloud.
He asked me to sing. He made me a promise.
If this was what humans called love, I would give even my life to have it forever.
-
(When they were together)
Gozuro- it was his name, and I liked his name.
As he gently combed my hair, I closed my single eye. Safe, so safe. I never knew how it feels to be this way.
"See! It looks pretty like this, Lala!" He exclaimed.
"Lala?"
"Is it okay if I call you that, Miss Ghost?"
I smiled. Gozuro never sees me as a doll. He gave me a name. Lala.
Years passed, he never left my side. I watched him grow up, from a scrawny little boy into an adult. I watch him; with my eyes that never watches another. I sing to him, and he would always listen. He never gets tired of my voice, of me.
I watched him as his health worsened. He would cough profusely and blood would taint his lips and hands. He would reassure me, knowing that I felt helpless.
I want to be with him.
-
(When they were attacked)
It hurts.
A doll who never knew pain, but it hurts so badly.
Everything changed when people called Exorcists entered our peaceful life. They wanted the thing that gave me life, and not just them, but the monster as well. For my sake, Gozuro would do anything- To protect me, he would attempt the impossible.
Together we fell at the same time. Slowly, my vision fades, like how my eye began to dull. He was calling to me, his hand reaching out towards my.
"Lala…"
I don't want my sight to be shielded by darkness. I want to see, to hear you… forever.
-
(When Lala came back to life, but couldn't remember)
I woke up. I saw someone lying not far away. I began to crawl towards him.
"Human-sama, I am a doll. I can sing, Human-sama." I said softly, approaching him while my joints creaked at my every move.
I am a doll made of simple wood and strings.
He cried. "Lala…" He raised his head slightly. I saw water running down his eyes. "I love you"
I knew him… I knew him not. There was this pain.
His head fell once more. He stopped moving. My hand uneasily reached for him and gently touched him. Is he tired? He must be. He is falling asleep.
"Do you want to sleep?"
I would sing him a lullaby. Lala… I would sing him a Lala's Lullaby. Would this made him sleep soundly?
-
"For letting me sing until I broke… Like this, I was able to protect our promise."
Lala the doll sung her lullaby to Gozuro, and finally stopped after three days and three nights.
-
To have been with you, Gozuro, was my greatest happiness.
I love you.
