Disclaimer: If I owned them, I would not have broken them the way Kripke has. No more toys for Eric!
You know, I heard about this experiment they did a few years ago. Got a bunch of one year olds in a room and recorded what they did when the adult looked in one direction but moved their head in another. Repeated it with apes. Turns out the kids instinctually followed where the adult's eyes were looking, while the apes followed the head movement. Took them millions of dollars to prove that humans communicated with their eyes. It took me growing up with my brother to know there is no greater truth.
My brother is the king of diversion, every movement, every word spoken aimed at creating a distraction from his true purpose. But even when he yelled, his glare revealed his fear; when he joked, his eyes exposed his pain; when he grumbled, his gaze disclosed his resolve; and when he teased, his glance confirmed his love. Each look spoke volumes, revealed secrets closely guarded. It was the language I studied growing up, the compass I used to gauge which direction my brother wanted me to go.
And yet today, every communication skill honed over years of experience is useless. The words spoken out loud under the Siren's spell have been used to board up the windows to my brother's soul. Because ever since Bobby's knife killed Agent Nick Monroe, Dean has refused to look me in the eye.
AN: This episode broke my heart. I think both guys did a great job in the last scene where both of them refused to look each other in the eye. Their discomfort inspired this little drabble. If you like it...please review!
