It's a cold evening and two men are sitting by a fire. The taller man's cheeks are flushed and rosy from the heat while the others still hold a bluish pallor. Thor leaned over to his sibling and gently placed a kiss on his forehead. "Come Lo. Time to retire" he murmured, voice rumbling around his chest. The corner of the other gods lip lifted in a half smile before replying "you go, I'll be right behind you" his green eyes full of reassurance gazed into the others blue ones. Thor sighed as he rose, pausing only to ruffle Loki's raven hair on the way past. Loki waited until he heard the creak of their bed before he moved to the window.
It was their first Christmas on Midguard after being banished for their love, their first Christmas together. They had agreed not to give gifts, 'meaningless trivial traditions' Loki had scoffed. It was the only time Loki had ever lied to his brother. He opened the heavy back door of the Tudor cottage and was immediately met by a frigid breeze. The rain that had been steadily falling all day splattered against his face causing him to quint. Trudging out into the middle of the garden he decided that love was indeed blind. And that it was a good thing that his friends from Asguard couldn't see him now. He tipped his face towards the sky and let out a deep breath, ice crystals formed before his eyes and he released a faint chuckle. The magic of the frost giants was rising up inside him, as it reached tipping point he let go. A blinding blue light split the midnight air, the temperature dropped to a degree below zero and the rain stopped. There was a moments silence before the wildlife got over their moments shock and returned to their lives. And then, snow started to fall. The exhausted god sank to the ground, completely zapped of energy as the snow started to form a thin layer on the ground.
"Loki?" Thor's strong arms wrapped around his lover and lifted him from the snow bank that had collected over him. "Is this your making brother?" The frost giants jade eyes opened slowly, "Merry Christmas" he smirked. "Brother" Thor frowned "we agreed no presents". Loki stood up smoothly and looked him in the eye. One sentence was enough to reduced Thor to rough man tears. "I am Loki, god of lies and trickery….Also in love with the brother who adopted me. I think you deserve a Christmas present my darling". The following kiss was sweet and brief; they had years on this planet. Many Christmases to come.
