Salt-tinged wind surrounded him, invading his senses. Emerald eyes slid closed as he inhaled deeply and a smile played upon his features. Since childhood, he had always loved the sea; loved it enough that he willingly braved its dangers time and time again, enjoying each voyage more than the last. In fact, there was only one thing he loved more.

"Enjoying yourself?" He turned his smile on the man who strode, silent and graceful, to the bough beside him. Even with his considerably more casual wardrobe, Lelouch looked as regal as ever, his pale complexion, maintained by years of being sheltered in the castle walls, contrasted sharply with those of the tanned ship hands who milled around in the background as well as Suzaku himself. But, Suzaku considered fondly, that is just one more beautiful thing about him.

"I am, sire." He gently bumped Lelouch's hand which rested elegantly on the stern with his own. One violet eye glanced at him as the corner of Lelouch's mouth quirked up.

"I suggest you enjoy it while it lasts. The forces which threaten my claim to the throne are diabolical, not to mention persistent. I expect it will be a long campaign, Suzaku." Lelouch turned to him fully but Suzaku only smiled. "You don't seem worried." The royal observed, amusement laced within his words.

"You once told me sire," he stepped away from the bough and faced Lelouch as well, "that together there is nothing we can't do." The expression Lelouch sent him urged him to continue. Suzaku knelt before his prince-his prince who he would make king, as was his birthright-and grasped Lelouch's hand reverently. "I doubt truer words ever existed, which is why I renew the vow I made to you." Placing his free hand over his heart, Suzaku looked straight into Lelouch's eyes and swore, "I, Suzaku Kururugi, pledge my sword, my life," he smiled and squeezed his prince's hand, "and my heart to Lelouch VI Britannia for this day and all days to come." Suzaku brought the pale hand to his lips and felt a cool palm cup his cheek- an odd display of affection probably prompted because they were not at court for once. He didn't need to look to know Lelouch was smiling.

"I will hold you to that, my knight."

Ne, it's true that stress can land you in the hospital. Which wing you end up in varies though. Anywho no long time no type for me. This is another song challenge explaining why it's so short. I'm genuinely interested to see if anyone can guess the song this was inspired by…
