The young master had a habit of using the Dragon's Pulse instead of his eyes. Which was fine and all, only Lan Fan wished he relied on his eyes just a bit more. Especially since he would still run into walls. Oh, he was perfectly fine in the forest. There, he could see - no, sense - the life-forces of the trees in the Pulse, but whenever he walked through the streets, he would bump into buildings. Okay, not bump. Crash into buildings headlong at top speed. Rather often. Highly dangerous for his health, and as his bodyguard, she often wanted to slap him for his carelessness and recklessness and for acting so damn childish half the time. Also, his gargantuan overdose of self-confidence. As his bodyguard, of course. For his own good, not because she still had anger management issues, nope. Slap him. Hard. With her left hand. The automail one.
Yeah, it was definitely with his best interest in mind. After all, if he kept doing it, he would get permanent brain trauma… Oh, who was she kidding. She really just wanted to slap him for being so damn greedy and taking the philosopher's stone into his body. For letting Greed possess him. Screw the fact that the whole reason they came to Amestris was to find immortality. She was mad. No, she was absolutely, seethingly, furious. She was furious at the young master for making stupid life choices and she was furious that she couldn't protect said young master well enough. Because of her failure, he paid a price. They'd all paid a price. He had almost lost his sanity and was freaking possessed by a power-hungry Homunculus, she'd lost her arm, and Grandfather… Grandfather had paid with his life.
She shook herself. Get a grip. It's not like it was his fault. Or yours. If anything, you should blame the late emperor for starting this whole mess. He was only doing his job. Kind of. Is looking for immortality a job? Yeah, she should definitely slap him. But every time she prepared to do it, something held her back. Partially because she was his bodyguard and she was supposed to protect him, partially because he was about to be crowned Emperor in two weeks, and one simply did not slap the Emperor. She was fairly certain she had another reason, but it always evaded her, preferring to stay at the edges of her consciousness.
At that exact moment, Ling Yao ran into another wall.
Okay, she was so going to slap him.
A/N: Lan Fan is a tad OOC and Ling is stupid. I rather like this one. So, tell me how I did, and how I can improve, because I'm always open to these sorts of things.
