Disclaimer: Not my boys (or all of the TV time would be fluffy scenes like this one), just my story.
A night full of sleep
Summary: Castiel can't sleep, Dean try's to help him. (Not the best summary)
Dean wasn't sure what woke him, but suddenly his eyes were filled with the darkness from the cheap motel room. He looked over at the other adjacent bed only to remember that Sam was finishing up a job in Illinois, whereas Dean and Castiel were in Indiana. It had been one month since Castiel had fallen from grace and he was awfully good at being human (Dean often commented). There were some things that Castiel took a turn adjusting to; one of those things being sleeping. Dean heard a rustling and and turing from the other bed as the head board hit the wall. Dean realized this was the sound that had pulled him from his subconscious slumber. "Cas?" The fallen angel turned his head to him, a look of annoyance was just visible in the lightless space. "What's wrong?" Castiel let out an exasperated sigh, "I cannot sleep." Dean allowed a shallow smile play his lips as he propped himself up on his elbows. "Try counting sheep." Dean offered. Castiel turned to him with a look of confusion touching his features, illuminated by the moonlight seeping in through the windows.
"There are not any sheep here Dean."
A small chuckle escaped the hunters lips. "You see the sheep in your head and then you just...count them." The confusion deepened, "You want me to count imaginary farm animals?" Dean mumbled a 'never mind' before laying down again. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Castiel shivering.
"Cas, you're shivering."
The former angel merely turned the other way, "I am fine." He pulled the thin blanket tighter around himself, but it didn't help. Dean, upon seeing this, grabbed the sheet from his bed and moved silently to Castiel's. Dean draped his sheet over the smaller mans bed then slid under the covers. The two men never really knew when they started feeling closer to each other; more than friends. They never talked about it, but there was a lingering touch here, a spare glance there. Which was why Castiel didn't pull away from the other man. Dean wrapped an arm around Castiel's shoulders and used the other to rub up and down his arms. Castiel gently rested his head atop the hunters chest and snuggled closer to him. Dean pulled the blankets more tightly around the former angel. He then leaned down and placed a slow kiss to the other mans temple. Castiel released a soft sigh at this. After a few minutes the shivering subsided. "Are you sleepy now?" A cruet nod gave away his answer. A hand slowly started massaging Castiel's hair and he slid even closer to Dean. That was how the former angel fell asleep, curled up next to the man he loved. He was closer to Heaven than any angel.
