Ello hoomans! I've recently joined a forum called Caeser's Palace, and I thought I'd try a writing challenge! I chose the prompt "Red," and this is where my mind took me. Enjoy!
Determination
"..."
"Do you know why I'm doing this...?"
"Why I keep fighting to keep you around...?"
The young child looked at the monster in front of them, eyes soft. The monster attacked, shooting at the child, though none of them made their mark. He looked to be in anguish, as if his heart were breaking. The child pressed the SAVE button, attempting to save the monster.
"I'm doing this... Because you're special."
"You're the only one that understands me."
"You''re the only one who's any fun to play with anymore."
The shots came again, but missed. It was as if the monster wasn't even trying to hit the child anymore. The child hit the SAVE button once more.
"..."
"No..."
"That's not JUST it."
"I... I..."
"I'm doing this because I care about you!"
"I care about you more that anybody else!"
The child looked on, eyes filed with sadness and pity. The shots missed them again, and they felt the urge to comfort this monster. Filled with more determination, the placed their hands upon the SAVE button.
"I'm not ready for this to end."
"I'm not ready for you to leave"
"I'm not ready to say goodbye to someone like you again..."
The child barely noticed the shots, before they pressed the button again. They pressed it harder, determined for it to work. The monster shouted, his voice shaking and full of sadness.
"So please, STOP doing this..."
"AND JUST LET ME WIN!"
The child's eyes opened wide, as the monster drew his arms back. A wave of colour fell down upon them, and he felt it as if fire was burning through their veins. The child was in to much pain to scream. And yet, deep within their fiery red soul, they knew they couldn't give up, that they refused to.
"STOP IT!"
The monster cried out. The child felt the pain, and knew that by now they would've been dead. But they refused to die. They held fast as the wave became more powerful, tearing their soul apart bit by bit.
"STOP IT NOW!"
The earth was shaking, and the child felt as though they had less of a hold on it. Still, they were determined not to let go. And then, the wave stopped. The monster looked weak. He held his arms by his side, and a single tear fell down his cheek.
"..."
The child drew their hand onto the SAVE button.
"I'm so alone..."
SAVE
"I'm so afraid..."
SAVE
"I... I..."
The child's vision turned white. When they could see again, the monster was gone. Instead a young monster child stood before him, crying.
"I'm so sorry."
