AN: So, yeah. I don't really know where this came from. I'm blaming Collide. Damn you Hussie for creating such awesomeness!

Warnings: EOA6 spoilers (obviously), slightly OOC Terezi, also this basically ignores the latest updates

Disclaimer: I don't own Homestuck or its characters (and thank god for that, or it wouldn't be half as awesome as it is now…)

After the fight, it's Dave who tells you what happened. All around you people are hugging and cheering, but you can't find the face you so desperately hope (hah, hope. Fat lot of good that's done for you) to find.

You do find Dave. He's standing next to that troll girl who fought with him and he looks… like he's been crying? You don't think you've ever seen him show much emotion at all (and you still can't find Dirk and wasn't he supposed to be with Dave and oh god what if something happened what if he's…)

Even though you're half afraid of the answer, you still walk over to where Dave is standing. He looks up at your approach and a guilty expression flits over his face for a second before it's smoothed over again.

Suddenly you're not sure anymore if you want to ask.

You do it anyway: "Where's Dirk? Wasn't he supposed to be with you?"

This time Dave actually cringes and okay, yeah, something definitely went wrong during their fight.

Nothing, however, not even your darkest thoughts, could have prepared you for the words that came out of his mouth.

"Dirk's dead."

And… no. Just no. Your brain just shut down completely. Because Dirk can't be dead. That's impossible. Not Dirk. "Are… Are you sure? Was it a heroic death?"

This time it's the troll girl who speaks up: "We don't exactly know. We waited for a bit but he wasn't waking up."

"Sorry, dude," Dave says, and you can't. You have to get away.

You practically stumble away from him. And then away from the other celebrating kids and trolls as well (why are they celebrating don't they know there's nothing, absolutely nothing, to celebrate?)

You still can't, still won't believe it. Dirk can't be dead. No he can't, he's god tier after all. He's practically immortal. And Dave never did say anything about knowing for sure it was a heroic death, right? (You don't even consider the possibility of a just death, because it's Dirk. He'd never betray them, he'd never betray you.)

You never even… never even got to tell him how sorry you were, how much you'd like to try again.

You never got to tell him how much you still loved him.

That… That breaks you the most, you think. You had been planning to tell him after everything was over, and now… Now you might never get the chance.

But no. You can't think like that. You have to believe, have to hope (hah, there's that hope again) Dirk will come back, that he's alive, or it might kill you.

You wait. While everyone else is celebrating you sit down on the edge of the platform and stare into the distance. Dirk will come back. You know he will, he's Dirk after all. He's indestructible.

So you wait.
