Disclaimer: I don't own Lexie or Meredeth
He was staring at her, his hard, vengeful eyes fixated on her, that gun pointed straight at her.
"I didn't mean to kill all those people," he begins, and she can feel her breath quicken, her heart pounding through her chest.
"I only wanted to kill Dr. Shepard, Dr. Webber, and….you."
His finger on the trigger, the gun pointed straight at her….
"No!"
Suddenly he's gone.
Lexie shoots up out of her bed, her breaths now coming in quick, short gasps as she screams at the memory that won't leave her head. She can feel the tears streaming down her eyes, her sobs trying to escape, the mixture of the gasping and the suppressed sobs choking her as she pulls her knees to her chest, rocking herself back and forth, back and forth….
"Lexie?"
She can hear a voice in the distance, someone calling her name, but she can't bring herself to register the voice, or even look to see who it is. Her senses seem to have vanished, her brain flashing scenes of that horrific day through her photographic mind…
"Lexie, it's me. It's Meredith. Look at me."
She can't though. Instead she burrows her face further into her knees, sobbing uncontrollably, shaking wildly, rocking back and forth, back and forth….
Lexie can feel her sister shift on the bed, her hands coming up around her back, her arms pulling Lexie into her lap.
"It's okay, Lexie. It's all over. You're okay. You're safe now," whispers Meredith, one hand brushing over her sister's hair, her other rubbing down her side.
"He's gone. He can't hurt you," continues Meredith, continuing to whisper soft, soothing words into Lexie's ear.
It had only been a week since the shooting. Lexie had been waking up every night since then, always in the same manner.
Lexie clutched her sister's shirt, continuing to cry from all the horrible memories that just wouldn't leave her brain….thankful that if she couldn't get them out of her head, that at least she still had Meredith to ease her back to reality when the nightmares were over.
