I'm looking at you through the glass...
Axel sat alone on the clock tower, staring down at the kids playing Frisbee. For once, he had decided to for-go the ice cream. Too many memories. Ah, that word. It now held an enormous irony in his life. His catch-phrase was "Got it memorized?". It was just a thing he liked to say. And then, he found himself being the memorize-er. He had memorized every inch of Roxas; all the way from the shiny strands of blonde hair to the tips of the kid's toes. And now, sitting atop the tower, he saw Roxas in his minds eye. Those beautiful, ocean-blue eyes, eagerly smiling up at Axel. And his smile. Oh, how Axel loved Roxas's smile. He could picture it perfectly, every tooth shinning in the red sunset that Roxas had loved to watch. Interesting. Love. He often found himself using that term when he thought of Roxas. And now he smiled back at the Roxas he was picturing; at the Roxas on the other side of the glass; the glass made of memories.
Don't know how much time has passed...
Roxas sat up, thinking heavily on the dream he had just had. Axel just wouldn't get out of his head, and he didn't know why. He had only met the guy once. And he had certainly never met him that way. The only interaction they'd had was on the street of Twilight Town, nothing more. Unless...were these dreams connected with those of the girl? She and Axel both had the same cloak... So maybe they new each other. Roxas decided that the next time he saw Axel, he would ask about the black-haired girl. Interesting. He was assuming that he was going to see the red-head again. He new only a day or so had passed since their last encounter, but strangely it felt like longer...
Oh, god it feels like forever...
Axel was alone again, curled up on his bed in the Castle That Never Was. He was starting to get used to this. He'd found Roxas, but his friend didn't remember him. Axel had gone back to his room in the Castle, alone. He hadn't left since. Demyx had come to check on him once, and Axel was thankful he had locked the door. Although Demyx was only a few years younger than himself, he couldn't stand for anyone to see him torn up over Roxas. It just wasn't something Nobodies were supposed to do. He heaved a sigh, and stared at his desk, which was next to the bed. Sitting atop it was a Popsicle stick, and Axel knew it was the one that said, "winner", from way back when he had first taken Roxas to the tower. Suddenly, he had to see Roxas again. It didn't matter if he remembered, he just had to see that smile. It felt like forever since he'd last seen Roxas smile.
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home...
Roxas couldn't even remember how long it'd been since he'd last seen Axel. He had given up on counting the days a long, long time ago. It'd been forever. And no one should spend forever without their best friend. Although, he had been getting clips from Sora. Things like the first time Sora had met Axel, after Roxas had joined with him. Roxas had nearly melted, because he remembered now; he just couldn't tell Axel. The words were there, of course, but he couldn't shout them out; it was physically impossible. He didn't know what Sora and Axel had said to each other, and it bothered him so much. Then, there was what he thought to be the last time he would see Axel. Again, through clips from Sora, Roxas saw his best friend die. Roxas might as well have died with him; he became a zombie again, just like he had in his early days of being a Nobody. And so he stayed that way, not wanting to feel anything ever again. He would be perfectly fine with being a zombie forever; there was nothing left for him in the world anymore. Nothing, no one, could have prepared him for the pain.
