My Slaves

A group of slaves are brought before the Pharaoh, Pharaoh Atemu of Upper and Lower Egypt. One of the slaves catches his eye so he orders the slave to be brought forward but another slave refuses to let anyone tear the two apart. Atemu orders them both to be brought forward and decides to claim them both as his personal slaves. One slave is still very protective of the other slave and Atemu is curious to find out what had happened to make them like this. What happened to them before they arrived at the palace? Why is the second slave so protective of the first slave? AU.

Hermaphrodite Yami

Atemu, the Pharaoh of Upper and Lower Egypt, was sitting on his throne just like he had been for the past four long hours.

All he wanted to do was to go for a nap but the council was droning on and on about boring stuff going on in the kingdom.

"Is there anything else that we need to discuss?" Atemu asked as the council finished talking about the last topic.

A council member opened his mouth to say something.

"Something important that can't wait until tomorrow," Atemu said before the man could say something.

Atemu had taken over his kingdom only three months before and his people were trying to force Atemu to take a bride since he didn't have one and he is already 18.

"Yes, Sire, but it can wait for a few minutes," the councilman said, lowering his head.

Atemu sighed in relief and stood up, sighing as a slave trader came into the throne room.

"Sorry to bother you, Pharaoh, but we have twenty slaves for the palace," the slave trader said as he bowed to the powerful man.

Atemu sighed and sat back down. "Bring them in," Atemu said, resting his cheek against his fist with his elbow on the arm rest of his gold throne.

The slave trader nodded and stood to the side, twenty slaves being brought into the room.

Atemu looked over the group of slaves with a bored expression, not expecting to see anything that attracted his attention.

They were mostly pale skinned and bruises were easily seen on the pale skin, with a few cuts on the slaves.

"Where are these slaves from?" Atemu asked the slave trader.

"Half of these are slaves sold to us from Japan and the other half came from here. We do not know why so many of these slaves are pale skinned," the slave trader replied.

Atemu nodded and continued to look over the group, stopping and sitting up straighter when he saw a short boy almost hidden by the taller boys at the back.

The boy was pale and looked a lot like Atemu, just a lot more innocent and with large, round amethyst eyes instead of sharp, crimson eyes.

"Bring that boy forward. The one that looks like me but with large, round eyes," Atemu ordered.

Two guards came over and grabbed the pale boy, another boy pushing them away and wrapping his rope bound arms around the little boy.

"Keep your hands off of him!" the second boy growled as he held the slightly smaller boy to his chest, glaring at the guards.

Atemu's eyes widened when he realised that the boy had been speaking in an old language known as Atlantian.

The language was rarely heard as Atlantis, the place the language originated, had been destroyed several years before.

"Bring them both forward," Atemu ordered.

The pale boy that was holding his friend glared up at Atemu, growling when the guards forced him and his friend forward and out of the group.

Atemu stood up and walked down the stairs until he stood in front of the two pale boys.

He raised an eye brow as the smaller one hid in the taller one's chest and the taller one glared at him, directly to his face which was forbidden by the laws of his kingdom.

Atemu couldn't help but stare at the pale face that was almost identical to his own, just pale and only a slight bit rounder.

The amethyst eyes that glared at him hid something and Atemu was curious what the boy was hiding.

"What is your name?" Atemu asked.

"Y-Yugi and Y-Yami," the little boy said, his words slightly muffled by the other boy's chest.

Atemu looked at the boy hiding in the other one's chest and his curiosity increased, wondering why one seemed so scared and the other was so protective of the first boy.

'I wonder if something has happened in the past that made them like this,' Atemu thought.

Atemu noticed something on the side of the taller boy's neck, gently tilting his chin to see what once was a deep cut that is now a pale scar that went from the teen's ear, down his neck and hidden under the collar of his shirt.

"What happened?" Atemu asked with a frown.

The boy didn't respond and Atemu wasn't sure if the boy was Yami or Yugi.

"Why is this boy cuffed when none of the others are?" Atemu asked, looking at the rope bound wrists of the taller boy.

"He attacked one of my men," the slave trader said.

The boy turned to glare at him with a dark look, Atemu frowning.

"Let me see the boy in your arms," Atemu ordered the slightly taller boy that was still shorter than him.

The boy tightened his hands around the boy and shook his head, the smaller boy tightening his small hands into the slightly taller boy's shirt.

"Why?" he growled.

Atemu smirked. "He is going to be my slave," Atemu replied.

"Like hell he is. He isn't going anywhere or with anyone without me. I don't give a rat's ass who you are," the boy growled.

"You will have your own duties," Atemu said.

"I. Will. Not. Leave. Him. Alone," the boy growled, punctuating every word.

"I'm sorry to be a pain, Pharaoh, but we have to get back to the meeting and talk about what we were going to discuss after a short break," a councilman said.

Atemu sighed and rubbed his temples. "Alright, fine. Both of these two boys will be my slaves," Atemu said.

"What? Beg my pardon, Pharaoh, but you can't have two slaves," the slave trader said.

"Who are you to tell me what I can and can't do?" Atemu growled.

The slave trader paled. "I, uh… I wasn't trying to tell you what you can or can't do," the slave trader said.

"Really? But you said, and I quote, 'you can't have two slaves'," Atemu said as he glared at the slave trader with a look that was much darker than Yami's had been.

"I, uh…" the slave trader really didn't know how to respond so he took a few steps backwards before he ran out of the room in fear that Atemu would punish him.

Atemu rolled his eyes and turned his attention to his two new slaves, smiling slightly when he saw the more innocent one looking at him instead of hiding in the other slave's chest.

The two slaves started speaking to each other softly before the taller one; sighed and unwrapped his bound arms from around the smaller one.

"Yami won't hurt you if you don't hurt me or bring up our past," the smaller boy said.

Atemu nodded; his curiosity increasing after Yugi told him that Yami would hurt him if he mentioned their past.

Atemu took Yami's wrists into his hand and pulled out a knife, cutting the rope binding Yami's wrists together.

Yami was still watching him with caution, tense encase he had attack someone.

Atemu took one of Yami's hands and one of Yugi's hands.

Yami tensed and tried to pull away the moment Atemu grasped his hand, Yugi not reacting at all.

Atemu led the two pale slaves up the stair and sat down on his throne, pulling Yugi onto his lap while getting Yami to sit down beside his throne.

Yami growled and glared up at the king, crossing his arms.

"It's not a good idea to have us sitting like this," Yugi whispered to Atemu.

Atemu sighed. "Fine. You can sit with him," Atemu said.

Yugi smiled and climbed off Atemu's lap, shifting to sit on Yami's lap.

Yami smiled and wrapped his arms around Yugi's small waist.

Atemu smiled slightly at the sweet, almost loving look Yami was giving Yugi that was mostly concealed by an indifferent mask that he could see through because he was so close to the two.

"Take the rest of the slaves out and tell Isis that she will have to check my two slaves over once we are finished here," Atemu ordered.

"Yes, Sire," a councilman said, stepping outside to signal for the guards to take the slaves out and stopped a servant to tell Isis that she would need to check the slaves after the meeting.

"Get on with this meeting," Atemu said, reaching over and stroking Yugi's hair.

He ignored Yami's glare and continued to stroke Yugi's hair to distract him from the boring meeting.
