'What...in Gaia's name...was that?' Kharg managed to pant out between ragged, gasping breaths, his eyes desperately searching his brother's face for some kind of explanation.
'I...have no idea,' the darker male panted back, his breathing just as laboured from the mad dash they had executed through the eerie deserted streets, '...do you think it's gone?'
Both twins fell silent, straining to hear the heavy footsteps that had been pursuing them such a short time ago, or the sickening, metallic screech of that huge sword dragging across the ground. When the only thing to reach their ears was the gratifying absence of sound, Kharg sighed heavily and leaned his head against the damp and peeling wall behind him.
'We need to get out of here,' the blond intoned after a few tense moments had past.
'You can go back out there if you want, but I'm sure as hell not!' the half-Drakyr stared at his brother as though he'd lost his mind, 'did you not see that...that pyramid thing?'
'Oh, then what do you suggest we do? Just stand around in here until it finds us?' Kharg glared, gesturing at the unsavoury surroundings of the derelict-looking building they had ducked into.
'Well, I wasn't thinking of just standing around...I'm sure we could come up with a more imaginative way to pass the time,' Darc grinned, the spectral light creeping in from the street reflecting off his pointed canines and making him appear somewhat feral.
'Darc!' the lighter male cried, a look of abject horror stealing across his face, 'you can't possibly be thinking of something like that at a time like...'
'Can't I?' he replied.
Before the former prince was able to utter another word, Darc pushed him fiercely back against the wall, his tongue darting out to lick along his brother's chiselled jaw-line as his right hand slid past the band of Kharg's shorts and squeezed gently at his cock.
'Darc, no,' the other muttered softly, the note of fear still apparent in his voice though now it was tinged with a distinct undertone of lust.
'It'll help take your mind off it,' the half-breed growled just before their lips met.
All thoughts of fear and incredulity swiftly began to melt away as Kharg leaned into his brother's ardent embrace. Right then it didn't matter where they were or what was waiting for them in the gathering darkness outside...the world could be ending for all he cared; he wouldn't even notice.
