Tidus ran as fast as his legs could carry him, hoping he still had time. His breath was coming out as hard ragged pants and the stitch in his side was painful, but he carried on.
His feet sunk slightly in the sand and he tripped, gathering himself quickly. He was still praying when he saw her, and his breath caught.

Tears slid down her pale cheeks, her arms limp at her side. One hand was wrapped tightly around her gun. A cold wind roared, pulling her hair away from her face as he watched. Her shoulders were shaking and her eyes were closed. Her body was facing him, but she didn't see him.
Her breaths were ragged, like his had been only a few moments ago. Slowly she raised her hand and the barrel of the gun was resting on her temple.

He leapt, his lips coming down on hers so suddenly she was thrown back of her feet and the gun was knocked out of her hand. He turned at the last second so it was him who took the blow as they crashed into the water.
Her hands fisted themselves in his blond hair as his arms wrapped protectively around her waist as their lips moved together.
