It was a typical morning in the Seville home. David Seville was making breakfast, pancakes to be exact, for his three Chipmunk sons; Alvin, Simon and Theodore. Of course, one would find it weird that Chipmunks would eat human food, and live amongst them, like regular people. Of course, once Dave had heard them sing; nothing surprised him about his sons.
"Boys, breakfast is ready!" shouted Dave.
Theodore came rushing downstairs, with Simon following close behind. Both were dressed and seemed ready for breakfast & school. Dave went to the table and gave them a stack-of-pancakes; he couldn't help but notice Alvin's absence.
"Say fellas, where's Alvin?" asked Dave.
"He told us that he wasn't feeling well." said Simon.
"That's not like him. I'd better make sure that he's okay."
Dave went upstairs to the boys' bedroom; and found Alvin in his bed and turned onto his side. Dave smiled and sat on Alvin's bed; he shook by the shoulder.
"Alvin?" said Dave.
Alvin turned onto his back, and Dave could see that Simon was apparently telling the truth: Alvin didn't look well at all. He had bags under his eyes from lack of sleep, his neck had some spots that were swelling, and he was also shivering. Never had Dave seen one of his boys look so sick. He touched Alvin's forehead and found that it was very warm.
"Can I go to school, Dave?" asked Alvin.
"Sorry Alvin, you can't go to school if you're sick."
"B-But Dave, we were suppose to perform for the entire school! Our first concert of the year!"
"I'm sorry, Alvin. Now, try to get some sleep and I'll make an appointment with the doctor."
Dave tucked Alvin under the covers and then went downstairs. He sent Simon and Theodore off to the school and then set up an appointment at the doctor's office for Alvin.
A few hours later, Dave arrived at the doctor's with Alvin. Although, it was no easy task getting him to go; Alvin absolutely hated going to see the doctor, it was the one thing that he afraid of. Dave sat Alvin down in a chair and then went to check him in. When he turned around, Alvin was trying to sneak out of the office. Dave sighed and grabbed him and sat him back down in the chair; he then took a seat next to him.
"Now Alvin, there's nothing to be worried about. Doctor Brand is just going to give you a check-up. Besides, it's better than being sick all the time."
"Dave, you don't know what it's like in there! He has scalpels, n-needles...He'll cut me open and take out my heart!" cried Alvin, clinging onto Dave's shirt.
"Alvin Seville." said a nurse.
Dave took Alvin by the hand, and they followed the nurse to an examining room. Soon, a doctor, that neither one knew, came into the room. She was young, tall, and blonde; everything that Alvin loved.
"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Seville. My name is Dr. Parkers; I'll be filling in for Doctor Brand today." said Dr. Parkers, she turned to Alvin. "This must be our patient."
Alvin began to blush and Dr. Parkers giggled. First, she checked Alvin's vitals and then asked Dave some questions about Alvin's medical history. She then began to examine Alvin's throat; and Dave could tell, just by the look on Dr. Parkers face, that something wasn't right.
"Is there something wrong?" asked Dave.
"Well, I'm afraid that these tonsils are pretty large for someone of Alvin's age. I think it's best if we schedule a tonsillectomy." explained Dr. Parkers.
"T-Tonsillectomy?" repeated Alvin.
Suddenly, Alvin's eyes rolled into the back of his head and he fainted right there in the examining room.
