She heard footsteps, hurriedly making they're way up the stairs. Taking a deep breath, she quickly unwrapped the object and threw the wrapper in the trash can. The footsteps got louder, and started making her nervous. She pulled down her skirt and underwear, and rushed in inserting the tampon.
The door was thrown open, and in the doorway stood Alice. "Hey Esme, I-" She stopped mid sentence. Esme had quickly dressed again and stood right by the toilet, looking completey blank. Alice cocked her head in confusion, Esme swiftly running past her. She turned around to find that Esme had fled, to where, she didn't know. Turning back to the bathroom, she skipped merrily to the cabinets, and threw them open. An unexpected item flew out and hit the floor. A tampon. Alice checked the garbage can, and found Esme's wrappers. A small gasp escaped her mouth, and she went to go find Carlisle.
Esme ran towards the woods, and only stopped when she knew she was far enough from the house. She plopped herself down on a tree trunk and started dry sobbing. So Alice knew, big deal. But if Alice knew, then everyone knew. Especially Carlisle. She cried harder. She missed it. Her time of the month. It would be hard to believe, but she missed the blood. She missed it running through her veins and body. She wanted to feel human again, so she went out and bought the box of tampons. It was quite sad, but it made her feel normal again, even if it was just for a little while.
"Esme?" A soft voice called. It rang like chimes, and sent shivers through her body. She looked up and saw Carlisle standing there. She quickly stood up from her spot on the trunk and turned away from him.
"How'd you find me?" She asked, although she knew the answer already. He shook his head.
"Esme, don't play games. You know you're my other half." He sighed. She turned to him, and saw a glimmer in his eyes. "So, is it true?" He asked, walking towards her and embracing her. She nodded into his chest and cried. He held her closer and kissed the top of her caramel colored hair. "Its alright, we all understand. Alice is terrified for you though. She see's your future, and she won't tell us. Not me, not Jasper. Not Edward, she's asked Bella to sheild her mind." He explained. She looked up at him and kissed his lips.
"But I don't want to go back, not yet." She whispered. He nodded his head.
"You don't have to." He sat down, bringing her with him. She rested her head on his chest, and stayed like that until the next morning.
