Chapter 1

An owl swooped through the kitchen window as the Potter family was eating their breakfast. As it slowly descended down to the table, everyone noticed that it was carrying 3 letters, 3 big, bulky letters. Each one was addressed to each of the Potter children, James, Albus, and Lily. Lily had been looking forward to this moment ever since her older brother James had gotten his letter 3 years ago. "Whoo Hoo!" James shouted. He jumped up as soon as the owl landed to grab his school supply list out of the sharp claws of the bird. In fact, it was so fast, that the paper tore in two. "Reparo." called an annoyed mother from over near the sink, and both of the ripped pieces of paper flew together and mended themselves. "Thanks mom!" he shouted back, obviously impressed. Now, as Mr. Potter helped untie the other two letters, Lily was panicking inside. What if she wasn't a witch, or what if it was a letter saying that she wasn't accepted at Hogwarts? She was almost in tears by the time the bulky letter was passed to her from the other side of the table. She slowly and carefully picked it up, as if it was about to explode. Once she finally opened her letter, she screamed with delight. It read:

Dear Ms. Potter,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall

Deputy Headmistress

"I got in!" Lily screamed at the top of her lungs. "I, I got in!"

"Of course you did!" James replied. "Why wouldn't you? It's been in our family for generations."

"Come on! Let's give my letter back to the owl so he can take it back and tell them that I'm coming!"

"Ugggg. Lily, stop being so excited. It's making me worried. You must be coming down with a case of excitisis." said James with an evil smirk.

"Hey. Be nice. I will tell them how you pretended to turn your toad into a rat with a stick, the day you got your letter."

"Moooom, you just told everyone!"

"Oops, well, you deserve it." Mrs. Potter replied, grinning wildly. Everyone else was laughing way too hard to notice James run up to his room with his face redder than the tomato sauce on their pasta.

"Don't worry, Lily." Albus told her once everyone's laughter died down. "I was also excited when I got my first letter. I couldn't stop talking about it! But when we arrived at the train, I was really worried and scared. It was an emotional roller coaster! Once you're done with your first year, it's not so bad."

"Thanks, Albus. Lily said. "I know you'll always be there for me. Especially when I need it."

"And I know you'll always be there for me, especially when I need it." Albus replied, smiling as he said it. And once he said it, Lily also laughed, smiling along.

Once dinner was over, and it was time for bed, they all went up to their rooms. Before long everyone was asleep, everyone except Lily. Lily stared out at the bright sky, gazing upon every star. She slowly thought to herself, I'm a witch, and Albus is right. I'll be nervous, but it won't be bad at all. I am a witch, and I'll make tons of friends. I am a witch. She kept repeating those words to herself, very slowly, until she, like everyone else was asleep.
