Archangel

A sad drabble of my fav. knightxnoble pairing; hope you enjoy.

Geoffrey gasped, seeing blood spray from his side as an excruciating pain was sent through his middle. Four arrows protruded from his side, and he felt a great sense of helplessness as he slipped into darkness. However, this feeling wasn't for him; it was for the woman that stood before him, eyes fixed in a wide stare filled with pain and misery.

This was his queen; his light in the darkness, his guidance through trouble, his other half. Queen Elincia fell on her knees over her knight, Geoffrey not remembering when he had fallen to the ground. She pulled out her mend staff and, with a tear sliding down her cheek, cast the magic on him.

The general felt a slight healing, but he knew that it wasn't enough; he was dying.

"Please, Geoffrey!" Elincia cried, and his heart tore as she wept over him, casting the spell again and again.

He reached out, setting his hand weakly over her hands that lay on the staff.

"It's…too late." He whispered.

"No! I can't lose you, Geoffrey; I won't!" She cried, unable to see as she shook her head fiercely back and forth, continuously casting mend.

He could see that she was getting tired from healing him, and he feared that she might exhaust herself until death.

"Elincia…you'll…overexert yourself." He whispered, coughing and splattering blood along her white shirt and face.

She wouldn't listen, tears mixing with the blood that still sprayed from the wound. The staff's crystal orb was losing its gleam, signaling that it was at its breaking point. Geoffrey reached out and gripped her hand more firmly this time, and when she tried to cast the healing spell it didn't work.

"No!" She cried, falling over him.

He wrapped his arms around her, realizing that at some point the arrows had been removed. She gripped his shirt tightly, sobs raking her small form.

"I love you, Elincia." Geoffrey whispered, and Elincia drew back from him.

He looked in her eyes, and saw determination replace misery. She pulled back further and drew Amiti from its sheath, the once-gleaming blade now several shades darker from blood.

"What are you doing?" He asked, feeling death closer then ever.

"I can't go on without you, Geoffrey." She whispered, turning the blade so that the tip was at her heart, pale hands gripping the blade.

"No!" He cried, reaching out for her.

But it was too late. Elincia, eyes not leaving Geoffrey's, slammed the blade into her heart. The queen of Crimea fell onto her knight and beloved, eyes clouding over. She reached out with her last breath and gripped Geoffrey's hand, their blood mixing together in a thick pool.

Geoffrey felt himself lost to oblivion, his eyes still locked with the sightless ones of his queen's. However, it was mere moments before he saw a light through the darkness. He looked closer, and there she stood; Elincia, radiating with light and majesty.

The knight ran to his queen, pulling her against him and holding her close. He pulled back and their lips crashed together with more passion than he had ever felt, her fingers gripping his hair, his hands on her hips.

They parted and he held her against him once more, both of them knowing where they were, and that they had all of eternity together. He looked down at his queen, his light, his archangel. She smiled up at him, and he smiled back. They held each other for a long time, neither knowing quite how long. But it didn't matter. His archangel would forever be his light and love, the source of his devotion.

That was all he needed.
