He missed the city.
The lights, the sound of people walking, laughing, fighting on the streets. He missed being able to buy manga without using the Internet and having to wait a week or two for the mail man to deliver it.
He missed having *real* friends.
Friends who *really* cared.
Granted, he didn't have many of those, but he'd had two close friends. Ones that adored him and a potential girlfriend who he'd never see again.
Not that he minded.
There was Amy.
He hated how his heart raced, how he'd momentarily freeze, how beautiful her voice sounded in his ears, how she'd give him that *smile* and he'd melt.
Girls weren't supposed to do that to him.
He was supposed to make *them* swoon and get light headed, dizzy with desire. But Amy was already in love so she didn't have to melt at him. She didn't have to fall at his feet.
He was jealous. Would he ever find what Amy had with Colin?
He was jealous of some guy in a damn coma. How messed up was that?
Or maybe he was jealous of Amy.
He didn't know.
Amy had it all.
A boyfriend, two *loving* parents, the world handed to her on a silver platter. Even Bright.
Ephram hated to admit it, but he respected the older boy. His love for his sister was obvious, even if extremely annoying. He'd do anything for Amy.
Not that he didn't understand.
Ephram would kill himself if it meant saving Delia. She was the world to him, the last connection to his mom, to a *real* family.
To a memory of a happy time. When parents loved and cherished and were there for you.
To a time when 'I love you' meant something.
Something Ephram was sure would never happen again.
