For the Truth or Dare tag at Hogwarts!
Charlie had had an idea of what he was going to do after Hogwarts, but now that he was actually out of school, he didn't know what he would do with his life.
So, there he was, living the life, hanging out with his friends–meaning Tonks and Julius only. Wow, he needed to go out more–and sitting on his couch, doing nothing but eating, which while her mum appreciated, she found it infuriating.
"Charles! You've got to do something with your life! You cannot be here, sitting and going out, pretending you don't have to grow up!" his mother had exclaimed, pointing out the obvious. Charlie had rolled his eyes and uttered a 'yes, mum' as he went out to Diagon Alley for what seemed the eight time in three days.
Walking around, he saw the Leaky Cauldron and approached. He couldn't drink at home, but he was already an adult, no attachment to his parent except if he wanted it to be so, and he could do whatever he pleased.
Of course, he tended to overextend his privileges, but whatever.
He sat down on the counter, greeting Tom and ordering a full glass of Ogden's finest Firewhiskey, the only think Charlie would ever expend money in.
After a while, a tipsy Charlie was talking to a man who looked no older than thirty. The man was telling him about his work, something Charlie would had found boring if it had not been a work concerning dragons, fascinating creatures Charlie had found amazing his whole life.
"Romania was beautiful, but I had to retire 'cause of a nasty run-in I had with this Hungarian Horntail. I'm fine now though," the man, who was called Oscar or something–Charlie didn't exactly remember, said. Suddenly, the man turned to him abruptly and pointed his index finger at him. "The reserve is looking for new recruits, would you care to join?
Charlie couldn't keep his excitement at bay, but he did retain the squeal. He nodded excitedly and told him to send him an owl to get more information.
The next morning, Charlie was pondering if what had happened was remotely true or if it was a figment of his imagination, which he doubted, but needed to confirm.
A great black eagle owl had left Charlie a big note explaining all about the reserve, and Charlie just knew he had to go. He couldn't just pass the opportunity!
He was going to have the time of his life, working for a thing he loved with his soul should be easy, and no one was to stop him.
Now, he just had to tell mum, dad and Bill.
