~* Chapter One *~
Grasping the remote, she cursed silently as she fell off her couch. Slowly the television flickered, and the channel seven news anchorwoman appeared. "News?" She groaned silently, looking down at her remote briefly she pressed in the channel for cartoon network. Looking up at the television, she noticed that she was still on channel seven. Right before she was about to get up and change the channel manually, the scene changed to a reporter standing outside the building marked Gemline Corporation.
~* On Channel Seven *~
"Lisa, what you see behind me is the Gemline Corporation headquarters. It has just been reported today, that Darien Shields, the owner of Gemline Corp. has been found murdered dead," The reported turned around pointing toward a line of bushes and evergreen trees. "Right there, behind that line of bushes. Under the will of Mr. Shields, Gemline Corporation will go to his fiancée, Serena Tuskino. Metropolitan police force, has also requested that if you have any idea concerning this case to call- (202)- 876- 8890." The reported finished giving off a weak smile, before the screen turned back to Lisa.
"Thank you Julian, now David with the latest on sports."
~* Back to Serena *~
Black dots slowly filled her vision; she could barely make out the man on the screen. "Darien you can't die…" She whispered softly, before she collapsed on the ground.
~* In Serena's Dream *~
Tears filled her eyes, as she hugged her legs tight to her chest. "Darien… Darien… You promised you wouldn't leave me. You promised. You promised. You promised." Serena muttered to herself, as she rocked her self back and forth.
"Serena, its okay. Everything will be okay."
"Darien?" Serena jerked her tear stained face upward.
"Yes, darling. I'm here." Darien soothed, as he reached down to caress her cheeks.
Whacking his hand away, she screamed, "You left me! You left me alone!"
"I never wanted to Serena. You must know that. I would never leave you willingly!" Darien shot back, his eyes filled with pain from the accusation.
"But you did! You did! You left me!" Serena moaned, as tears began to well up in her eyes.
Darien jerked his head away, unable to look at his love. "I'm sorry Serena. I…" Then suddenly he began to fade.
"Darien! No… You can't leave me again!" She yelled in agony, as she reached out trying to grasp his arm; which ended up being nothing but air. "Darien…" Then she too began to fade.
~* Waking Up *~
"Hello, is Miss. Tuskino there?" The voice demanded, followed by a series of knocks.
"Who is it?" Serena moaned, as she slowly levered herself up from the ground.
"The police, ma'am."
"I'll be right there." Serena groaned, as she made her way toward the door. Leaning against the wall for support, she slowly turned the doorknob.
