Elena was alone.

She did not know what was worse waking up in transition or doing this all alone. She had never wanted to be a vampire and here she was becoming one. Reality was she did not know whose blood she died with in her system, since she had no recollection drinking any of the vampires blood.

She knew her decision as soon as the new guy walked into the morgue.

"I am sorry about this." Elena said before she bit into the poor guy. Hoping she had watched enough compulsions to know how to do this right. Looking deeply into his eyes Elena tried her hand at compelling, "You will forget what just happened here and call Liz Forbes telling you you have some questions about a new body." When he repeated waht she said Elena knew that it had all worked out.

Less than an hour later Caroline's mom showed up at the morgue surprised to see Elena sitting on the table. "Where is the doctor, Elena?" Liz questioned.

"After I drank from him I compelled him to forget and call you." Elena never looked up from the floor, partly out of shame, partly not wanting to see the disappointment on Liz's face. "I want you to tell the others that I had you cremate my body and dump my ashes in the falls. I don't want anyone getting their hands on any remains of the doppelganger. Find Jeremy an art school. Tell him to get out of this town that has brought him nothing but pain. Live a happy normal human life, away from vampires and werewolfs."

"What are you going to do? You don't even have a daylight ring." Liz questioned Elena. This seemed stupid going off on her own.

"I am going to head down to New Orleans a town crawling with magic. The answer to hopefully finding myself a decent witch." Elena got up from the table. "Take care of Jeremy for me."

Elena quickly ran out of the morgue, she had a few hours left until sunrise and she wanted to make it to the next town over. Out of Mystic Falls for good.
