Whenever ice is in the Big Harbour, The Dispatcher always chooses at least one tug to be in charge of dealing with the ice. This was to give everyone a sense of responsibility of keeping the Big Harbour safe and looking after the team- and although Foduck insists it's his job anyway, the others need to learn about that kind of thing too.

This year, the ice was a lot worse than usual, so the Dispatcher decided that everyone can be in charge, as everyone had to look after everyone else.

"I trust you'll be able to do your jobs sensibly?" He asked.

"Yes we will Dispatcher." Replied the tugs as they set off.

...

Theodore suggested that the tugs split up and try and deal with different parts of the harbour.

The others agreed that that might work, even though Foduck insisted that it was dangerous to attempt it.

So Hank George and Theodore were in one group working closer to the Harbour because Hannk and Theodore didn't have their V's yet.

But soon the three ran into trouble trying to clear the ice.

George decided to push it away and try to break it into smaller pieces that way, but the ice was too strong for him even.

"Well, maybe I could bump it." Suggested Hank. "I could weaken it, and then George can just push it away."

Theodore said. "That's bound to work! Let's give it a try!"

So with that, Hank began bumping the ice- but every time he tried, he kept bouncing off and bumping into Theodore instead!

Meanwhile, George attempted one last push. Then suddenly, his huge smokestack began letting off massive clouds of smoke.

"Oh no." he groaned and ground to a halt, still with a smoking smokestack.

...

Foduck and Emily, meanwhile, were working further out.

"I can't believe this!" Huffed Foduck. "I should be in charge- I'm the safety tug!"

But Emily paid no heed to this. Instead, she was watching a ribbon of black smoke drift up into the air.

"Foduck look!"

He turned- and saw the smoke.

"It's a fire!" He cried. And he set off to the rescue.

"Foduck wait!" Called Emily, hurrying after him.

...

It wasn't a fire, but Foduck could tell as soon as he saw George's smoking smokestack that the situation was serious.

"Hold on George!" He cried. "I'll take you to Dispatcher."

Emily arrived, and she, Hank and Theodore fought though the ice, as it was the quickest way back.

This time, Hank didn't bounce off Theodore, which made him feel relieved.

...

Soon, George was taken for repairs and the Dispatcher praised the others.

"Well done!" He said proudly. "That might not have ended so well had you not all worked together so efficiently and responsibly. Well done, all of you!"

The tugs felt very relieved.

When George was released from the repair yards soon after, he was relieved- and thanked his friends for the rescue.
