The greatest year there ever was.
It was so great, in fact, that he soon forgot what his real birthday was and told everyone that July 16th was his birthday.
(He got a few confused looks when an obviously not one-year-old told people this but he didn't mind.)
Really, though, that night- hearing the news that a man had stepped onto the moon, discovering that he and that man shared the same first name, and staring up at the moon for hours- was the night he truly started living. He couldn't sleep he was so excited! He even woke up his parents to ask what exactly could put a man on the moon. Their answer was to go back to sleep, so he waited til morning to ask again.
How could a human be sent out to space?
His parents didn't know but they guessed it had a lot of science involved.
In a second he decided that he was going to be a scientist.
