It's been a while, hasn't it? If you've read my story from Naruto, Mourning, this is sort of like my take on it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Yugiouu...Period. Exclamation point. Exclamation point.

Ryou smiled tiredly as Yugi explained how his life had been going without his other side. "It's been great," he said, "Anzu's really paying more attention to me. We're dating now, but we want to keep it sort of low key."

"Why?" Ryou asked blandly, moving a piece of pasta in my bowl. Ryou kept his head down and glared at his food. There was a reason why Anzu wanted to keep it low key.

"Paparazzi. With me being the king of games and all, they'll probably drown us in a sea of questions," Yugi said brightly.

Trying to hold back a snort of disbelief, Ryou picked up his napkin. He wiped his mouth and smiled at Yugi, "I hope you guys have a great relationship. Please invite me to the wedding!" Ryou said. His words were so false he thought he would choke on them.

Yugi's eyes glittered, "Of course!" He paused for a second, "So how's your life been without your counterpart?"

Ryou stopped for a second, "Well," he began slowly, as if thinking over his words, "It's been nice. It's been very boring and monotonous, but nice at least."

Yugi smiled at him, "You miss him don't you?"

"Miss who?" asked Ryou.

"Him," Yugi smiled, "I miss mine too, sometimes. I dream of his coming back home but realize that he was never meant to be here. His home isn't here Ryou. It's there."

"Why would I miss him? Why should I?"

"You know you miss him. He was part of you. He was your…"

"Check, please?"

Ryou unlocked the door to his apartment. He fumbled with his keys for a while before finding the right one. Ryou was distraught. How dare Yugi imply that he missed his counterpart?

It was intolerable that he missed him. Intolerable. He couldn't, he just could not miss him. He couldn't miss the cruel conversations that he had with himself, or the opportunities missed to see his father. He couldn't miss reciprocated feelings, a fast beating heart, or a cold kiss upon the lips. He just couldn't.

So, even though he despises the absence of his counterpart, he doesn't miss him. Why? Simply because. Because missing his counterpart, the feeling itself, was intolerable. Weakness wasn't accepted by Bakura, whether it be in his past life, his present, or his next.
