Summary: Joan and God finally part ways at Kevin's wedding. This is just basically the way I would end Joan.
Disclaimer: I own nothing as Joan of Arcadia belongs to Barbara Hall and CBS.
Pairing: Joan/CBG.
A/N: I know I know, I have other stories to finish, and I'm in the process of writing a Joan going to college one, but sometimes the idea just comes to you, and I happen to think this is a beautiful song. Hope everyone enjoys. Oh yeah, this is just going to be a one-shot unfortunately. But still, enjoy and please review!!!
Joan sat alone at her table watching her brother at his wedding. He was in the middle of the dance floor, spinning around and around while his new bride, Beth, was laughing. They both looked so incredibly happy and Joan was happy for them. She smiled to herself, remembering what the psychic told Kevin, that he would dance at his wedding, and she wound up being right. She took a sip of her champagne when suddenly she heard a familiar voice.
"Want to dance?" She looked up and saw God in that form, the same form who introduced himself to her ten years ago. He was wearing a tux and she had to admit that even though it was God, he looked damn cute. She smiled at him and offered her hand.
"I'd love to." She got up and they stepped onto the dance floor together. It was a slow song. Together they danced in perfect harmony. She rested her head on his shoulders, as if she was trying to savor this moment because she knew what was about to happen. And then he spoke.
"Joan, I need to tell you something." But before he could finish, she interrupted.
"I know." He smirked at her.
"I know you know. I'm omniscient." He eyed her. "Remember?" She rolled her eyes.
"God's snippy?" He chuckled.
"I thought we went over this before?"
"We did. I'm just....." And then she paused, trying to find the words.
"Stalling?"
"Yeah. I guess I am." They continued dancing. Neither of them spoke for a few minutes. Joan's head was on his shoulders again. It pained him to have to leave her, but he knew his job with her was done. At least for now it was. Now she would have to just trust that he was listening to her and watching her. God loves all of his creatures, but it was no secret how much he loved Joan. He whispered into her ear.
"It's time Joan." As they began to break-away from each other, another song began to play.
Time it was and what a time it was it was,
A time of innocence, a time of confidences
He began to walk away. Joan watched as he slowly disappeared into the crowd. Then she turned away. He stopped before he reached the exit and turned back her way.
Long ago it must be, I have a photograph
Then she turned back and their eyes met for one last time.
Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you.
