I've finally finished this idea of a one shot for Bravely Default. Writing it, I thought it fair to type in the view point of the majority who bought the stand alone copy of the game. I think I captured the atmosphere fairly well with this short write.
I do not own any property of Bravely Default.
You hurry home from the appointed destination for within possession you had obtained the newest released game for your Nintendo 3ds system titled Bravely Default. Shutting the vehicle off once home, you rush in; the excitement and longing for the game had built up towards this moment from the first batch of screen-shots and videos that caught your attention, is now reaching its breaking point as the bedroom door is closed behind you. Taking a moment to calm down, you look the package over, inspecting every inch of every detail before opening the case. Snapping the self titled card from its hold within the case, the current card in your 3ds system is popped out before being replaced with the latest game. Turning the system on, you are greeted with a fairy fluttering around the title; drawing you in, begging you to begin playing its game; without a moment to spare, you then press "A".
After a moment of booting up the game, you are finally greeted with the game's title on the top, decorated with a flying fairy as well as three empty files, waiting and ready to be filled. On impulse, you choose the first file; following the prompts to setting up the game, the screen then fades to black.
You continue watching the top screen until a white fairy flutters in from the right "Oh, hello. I see fire in those eyes! How do I put it..." You watched in awe as the fairy continued to speak; the anticipation of starting your new adventure climbing up to its peak. "First, I just need to hear it from you. Say that you'll stay. Till the very end." In your mind, you scream at the game to hurry up and get started. "With that done, let's get you on your way!" She then flies off screen from which she came. The game then loads up a screen with an exclamation mark telling you that its preparing to scan an AR marker; immediately, you recall seeing an image of a fairy on the instruction booklet.
Opening the case, you then pull out the booklet housing the specific marker on the back; placing it on the floor in the middle of your room before scanning said marker using the 3DS cameras. A bright light begins to shine from the image on your screen within your well lit room as you watch a pendent of blue gem float upwards in front of you as you move the system to eye level before watching the three dimensional image shatter suddenly; encasing the area around you in ocean blue crystallization as a female character, garbed in white appears on screen.
"Can you hear my prayers? Wherever you are. Whoever you are..." A rumbling is then heard as the young woman stumbles to the left side of your screen. "Please, you must listen! I've no one to turn to now but you..." You!? This game has now brought interesting beyond your anticipation. As you continue to pan the 3ds alongside the woman, listening to her story, you now feel like you're apart of the action as you wanted to so badly as to reach out to her before she brings herself to her feet to face you. "You who hear my prayer...You whom I've yet to meet... If there is still time yet, save them! My friends. This world!" A second rumble is then heard as it shook the ground beneath, she then catches herself upon the newly formed ledge. "I beg of you.
Become my warrior of light!" her hold is lost as she gives one last cry; falling into the black abyss.
Hope you enjoyed the short read as much as I enjoyed typing it up. It was a moderate challenge to capture the mood; I think I would've done more though.
