The idea for this story came from my brother, Devin, special thanks to him :)
At the lookout, the pups were racing each other through a makeshift race track. Marshall, being Marshall, keeps tripping over things and one time tripped and ran into a bulldozer.
"What do you think Ryder is going to do with this?" Chase asked looking at the bulldozer Marshall had hit.
"It looks like it's for a pup." Skye replied.
"But we all have our own vehicles." Rocky replied.
"Ryder is probably waiting for another pup to use it." Chase decided.
Just then, they heard whimpering and cries for help that sounded like they were coming from the bay.
Chase called Ryder and said, "Ryder, we heard someone crying for help and it was coming from the bay. I think it could be a pup!"
"Alright, I don't think we will have enough time to make a plan, so tell the pups to get to the bay as fast as they can." Ryder commanded, running to his ATV.
"Okay, Ryder."
They then arrived at the bay and saw a brown pup drowning in the bay.
"Rocky, do you think you could make something to go out into the water and save him?" Ryder asked towards Rocky.
"Don't lose it, reuse it!"
He ran over to his forklift and grabbed things out of it to make a little raft for the little brown pup in the bay. While Rocky was doing this, Ryder was thinking about how much easier this rescue would be if they had a pup made especially for water rescues.
Well, this pup is a pretty good swimmer. Ryder though, realizing how long this pup has kept himself alive I the middle of the bay.
Rocky ran as fast as he could with the raft in his claw arm and pushed it out into the bay towards the cute little brown pup.
Please survive, please survive, please survive! Rocky though in his head as the raft stopped in front of the little pup.
The pup was able to climb onto the raft and pedaled it to the shore. The pups cheered as this little brown pup jumped off the raft and onto the shore.
"Thanks for saving me, dudes!" The pup said.
Even his voice is adorable! Rocky thought in this head as he stared at the brown pup.
"My name is Zuma. Mind if I come with you guys? I don't really have a home myself." Zuma told them, which caused all of them to whimper and feel very sorry for him.
"Of course you can Zuma!" Rocky yelled as he ran over to cute little brown pup and put his paw on his shoulder.
"We'll introduce ourselves on the way home, come on pups!" Ryder decided as the pups ran to their trucks.
"You can ride in my truck buddy!" Rocky offered, bushing.
"Thanks, dude!" Zuma replied as he ran over to the forklift.
Ryder and the pups introduced themselves as they drove back to the lookout with Zuma. Ryder was thinking about what they could do with Zuma.
We could test him and see if he would make a good construction pup, Ryder thought in his head, since he already had the bulldozer and the pup pack made for it. Once they got back to the lookout, he did just that. He tested Zuma to see if he was cut out to be the team's construction pup, but he didn't seem to be cut out for it.
Then, Ryder got a call from Mayor Goodway on his pup pad.
"Hey, Mayor Goodway, what's up?"
"Ryder! I was rowing out to seal island, because Cap'n Turbot called, and I dropped the row in the water, and a storm is coming in fast! Please save her before she freaks out!" The Mayor told Ryder. (Yes I know this has happened before)
"Don't worry Mayor, we'll get save you back. No job is too big, no pup is too small!" Ryder said as he called the pups.
"PAW Patrol! To the lookout!"
"Ryder needs us!" The pups yelled as they ran to the lookout.
Rocky, who was playing with Zuma, told him, "It's an emergency, follow me!" He also warned him about Marshall who, as normal, crashed in the elevator.
The elevator went up and all the pups took notice to Zuma who was in also in the elevator. Once they got to the top, Zuma was standing next to everyone else while Chase shouted "Ready for action Ryder sir!"
Zuma was fairly distracted by everything that he saw within the lookout, but he really wanted to see how the rescues worked. Zuma paid attention to Ryder as much as the other pups did as he gave the pups their roles in saving Mayor Goodway.
"Hey, Zuma, wanna come with us and watch the rescue?" Rocky offered, running to the slide.
"You're a totally nice pup, dude." Zuma replied, going down the slide with Rocky, making Rocky blush like crazy.
They raced on over to the bay, where they saw a boat with Mayor Goodway on it, and the storm had begun on their way there.
"Alright, since we couldn't beat the storm, Skye can't fly to Mayor Goodway, so we need a new plan." Ryder explained, thinking about what they could do now.
They couldn't have Rocky build a raft like they had before, because the waves would just drift out into the bay. While and the pups were thinking, Zuma jumped into the water and begun swimming towards Mayor Goodway.
"Zuma! No! The storm is too strong!" Ryder yelled, but Zuma completely ignored this.
Zuma, being the amazing swimmer he was, was able to swim all the way out to Mayor Goodway.
"Hmm, guess I could've survived without there help." He said to himself as he got behind the boat and began pushing.
Zuma was able to push the boat all the way back to the shore, with waves, from the storm trying to push him, and while pushing a little boat at the same time.
"Wow, Zuma! Your an amazing swimmer!" Rocky howled after Zuma got back.
"Thanks, dude!"
"Great job Zuma! You saved the day! Ryder shouted as the pups howled.
Once they got back to the lookout, Ryder called all the pups to a meeting.
"What is this about Ryder?" Chase asked.
Ryder then put his hand up to silence the pups and said, "Pups, I called you all here to tell you that we now have a new member of the PAW Patrol!" Ryder explained, taking an orange pup tag with an anchor on it and walking over to Zuma.
"Zuma, due to your great swimming ability and your courage, I'm making you the PAW Patrol's official water rescue pup!" Ryder told him as he put the pup tag on the collar he gave him.
"Really? Cool!" Zuma shouted as the pups howled on excitement.
"Go down the slide Zuma, there's something waiting for you." Ryder told him.
Zuma ran over and jumped onto the slide, and when he reached the bottom, there was an orange hovercraft, with an orange pup pack inside.
"It's all yours Zuma!" Ryder said once he and the pups got to the bottom of the lookout.
"This is so cool! Thanks, Ryder!" Zuma howled as he drove around the lookout in his new hovercraft.
He had a home, a family, and now he's part of a rescue team! Zuma's life was turning out to be not so bad after all!
