Chapter 3
The Funny Man & the Covenant
Startled, Chief sprung up from the hospital bed. IV's were still in his armor pumping fluid through his life support systems. Chief pulled them out. Fluid, still dropping out. He started to walk towards the door when a woman walked in with a mask on and a surgeon dress on.
" Oh, so your awake now. I thought you would have woke up earlier." Snickered the woman
" Who are you?" Chief asked groggily
" I'm the doctor that repaired your armor and mended your arms and leg. My name is, if that was what you asked, is Morticia," the woman answered
Morticia walked across the room and took off her dress to reveal a doctor robe with a stethoscope around her neck. She walked over to a chair and asked Chief to sit down. Chief sat on the bed.
" I have few questions for you. First, Why were you outside so close to darkness?" asked Morticia
" What do you mean, is going out at dark dangerous?" Chief laughed
" Yes it is, don't you know that dark equals death here!" Morticia said with above normal talking voice
" Second, Why are you here?" She asked
" I was fighting on Alpha Centauri 8 with a woman named Amy and an …ughh… an explosion sent me into outer space and I landed on this planet." Chief alleged
" All right that will do, I'll be back later to run some tests." With that she left the room
Chief slipped into his bed and started to think of what she meant by dark equals death. Wondering made his brain teem with questions. Why was outside dangerous? Where was he? With those questions in mind he went exploring the hospital.
The hospital was a very clean place. Patients walked the halls with IV's in their arms and carrying the stands around. Doctors ran in between the rooms attending the critical patients.
" How are you?" asked a funny looking man
" Ughh… good, you?" Chief said awkwardly
"I know why you are here, you are here for the Talisman of Prophets." The funny man whispered
"What is that? The Talisman of Prophets?" Chief asked while taking the man aside
" It is the most rarest item on the whole planet! Yes, The one item the covenant wants." The man whispered again
" The Covenant!" Chief whispered, "I thought they were destroyed at the ring!"
" I don't know about an ring but the covenant control this planet. Some say they came from space, others say they came from the ground. Me personally, I think they came from the caves to the east. The covenant wants this "Talisman of Prophets" for some weird ritual…" The funny man raved on about other stuff and Chief lost interest and went back to his room.
In his room he rested ready for the next day.
