Always strong

Summary: This is just a short paragraph, probably not even that, about a certain Hero's last words. I wrote this because I was feeling quite sad and I felt like I needed to remember about the hero in me.

Pairing: HarryxHermione. Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter. Never will either.

He was the wizarding world's hero, even as she looked down at his pale face, his jade green eyes staring deep into hers, he knew that without him they wouldn't be here now.

He was her hero, she may not have thought back then, when they were sixteen and she had a crush on Ron that the boy in front of her, would become her joy.

He was now eighteen, the Dark lord Voldemort was gone, but his destruction was left behind, leaving his scars on the people whom knew about his existence. The skinny teenager, well she should say young man before her, was smiling now, his grin filling her heart with laughter, she held his hand tightly and kissed him upon his lips and forehead, before giving him the biggest hug she could manage.

Which was extremely difficult when your hugging partner is lying down.

She looked into his eyes and realised that he was trying to speak, he hadn't been able to speak for a year, since the defeat of Voldemort, " Herm… Hermione" he croaked only loud enough for her to hear.

"I… love you." she watched as his eyes softly closed and his grip on her hand loosened. She felt a lone tear roll down her face and realised that he was gone. To a better place she always thought where he could be with his parents and all the people he has lost, where he could laugh with Ron and share his stories with Dumbledore. He was her hero, he was always strong, for everyone and she knew that he would be looking over her making sure she was safe, but he taught her one thing.

'That a hero lies in you'
