"What are you doing?" Shaila eyed the stern giant.

"Repairing armor," came the terse response.

"I can see that, but what are you using?" She eyed the gray substance with suspicion. "I don't think it's going to hold up."

"Gull Binding. And it will hold." Sten answered.

"Wait, you haven't put it on the hilt of your weapon too?" Sure enough, Shaila could see the ugly grey stuff wrapped around the hilt of Sten's massive sword.

"Better grip." If Shaila didn't know better, she would have thought that Sten sounded a bit defensive.

"Where in Ferelden did you find that stuff?" She watched as he continued to press the stuff onto his plate armour. "Sten, that stuff isn't going to hold."

"It will." Sten's face was set and stubborn. He ignored the question.

Shaila signed, and was going to turn away when she caught sight of Sten's tent. A couple of grey patches decorated the aging tent. "Your tent too? "

Sten shrugged as she continued. "Are you sure this stuff doesn't have the taint in it or something?" She eyed the circle of grey he was pulling strips off of.

The shrug had pulled up Sten's sleeve. There, on his lower arm was a strip of Gull Binding.

"Sten! Didn't you go to Wynne with that slash?"

He glowered at her. "Gull Binding is good for anything." Then he turned, the conversation obviously over.

Shaila left, shaking her head. Gull Binding indeed…
