Something Warm.

I don't own HP or the characters. I do own that red blanket that is resting on my lap this minute. Please review at the end!

She knew that others thought she didn't belong here, but truth of the matter was that she had just as much right to be here as anyone else.

Okay, so maybe they had slightly more right than she did. But she was still here nonetheless. Because she could be. And she smiled brightly at everyone as they passed, despite their returning glares.

You see, what happened was that Ravenclaw and Slytherin had one of those rare class-sharing days (Slytherin was usually with Gryffindor), and they had to partner up for a project due the next week. Of course, no one wanted to partner with Loony Lovegood. Apparently, nobody wanted to partner with Pansy Parkinson either, much to her surprise.

And so it was from these misfortunate events that Pansy had regrettably given Luna the password to the Slytherin common room and told her to meet her there that night. Pansy needed an A, after all. But Pansy had never showed, the bitch. Luna couldn't see that though. So she sat curled in a Slytherin green chair in the Slytherin common room greeting and grinning at Slytherins, but Luna didn't feel out of place one bit.

She was cold, though. Cold and tired. Surely she could shut her eyes for a moment, Pansy would wake her up when she came into the common room.

Before she knew it she was half-asleep; curled on the chair, with her bare feet tucked in and her long blonde curls sprawling in all directions. She could feel the glares of the Slytherins, but she stayed where she was, half-asleep.

And shivering.

She shivered more when she heard a husky, soft and mildly concerned voice ask "what's she doing here?"

Luna couldn't here the answer, but she supposed it was fairly snarky and sarcastic.

She half-opened her eyes to see Draco Malfoy, the owner of the voice, watch his friends go up the tower, and glance around. She shut them again and continued to shiver when he came toward her.

Then she felt a warm arm wrap a warmer cloth around her. She felt a round of chills, and then was instantly warmer. She didn't dare speak, but she half-opened her eyes after she heard him go up the tower to admire the blanket around her. Thick and soft and deep-red, she fell asleep wrapped in it in the Slytherin common room with her blonde curls sprawled in every direction.

Pansy never came, but morning did. And it brought Slytherin kids, laughing and sneering like they had last night. She quickly got up to leave before she got into trouble, folding the blanket onto the chair. But as she did, she heard a crackling, and looked to see a 3-by-5 card pinned to the corner of the blanket. In fancy script written only by the son of a wealthy man, it said

Keep it, Luna. You'll stay warmer this way.

She glanced around quickly, and then wrapped the blanket back around her, and headed toward the Ravenclaw common room with the soft red fabric trailing after her bare feet.

A/N: Not sure if I want this in or not, choose if you like the end with this tacked on or as is:

The next day, Draco Malfoy got a note delivered by a red-headed first year at the dinner feast.

Thanks, Draco. I haven't shivered lately.

Thanks for reading! Please review, reviews make me happy. And if you like Twilight, check out my other fic "Why the Rain?"
