Waiting

A Kuroshitsuji fanfic

((A/N: WHERE THE HECK DID THIS COME FROM?
No, seriously, I don't think I've ever written anything this… depressing.
Originally, this was going to be about Lizzie after the end of the anime, but then Edward came into existence and hijacked this thing.

Summary:
Edward Middleford has been waiting for Ciel too long. And when Ciel is back, he can't wait for the little demon child to die. Darkfic, Yandere!Edward, Edward-Ciel, CielXSebastian, did I mention DARKFIC?

I own nothing!))

The day the Middlefords receive note of Ciel Phantomhive's tragic death, Edward laughs. He laughs and laughs and laughs, as Lizzie cries and cries and cries, and it is not Edward's wind-chime like laugh that he normally laughs, it's deep and hollow and Lizzie cries more because her big brother is scaring her. What a joke, a silly joke. (Except when it isn't.) Ciel is dead? Of course he's dead! He was dead twice before, and both times he came back. So he'll come back again this time. He'll keep dying and coming back. (Until he doesn't.) So Edward keeps laughing, because Ciel is such a joker and this is the funniest one yet.

Edward decides he'll wait for Ciel to come back from that moment onward. Because he'd never admit it before (But now he can't stop saying the words.) but he loved Ciel from the moment he saw him. Everyone thought he hated Ciel because Ciel was going to marry Lizzie, but actually, Edward hated Lizzie because Lizzie was going to marry Ciel. Ciel was certainly meant to be his, after all. (Except someone already had that claim on Ciel, and it wasn't Edward or Lizzie.)

So Edward waited.

He waits on Ciel's funeral as the little black coffin with the silver Phantomhive ring inside is lowered into the ground, waiting for Ciel to show up and ask everyone what the fuss is about. (But he doesn't.)

He waits on his own wedding day, as he goes and marries a nice girl named Emma who he dislikes because she isn't Ciel, waiting for Ciel to walk through those church doors and shout "I object!". (But he doesn't.)

He waits on the day his daughter Cecilia is born, waiting for Ciel to knock on the bedroom door and ask if he can see his niece. (But he doesn't.)

Most of all, he waits on the day of Emma's funeral, waiting for Ciel to comfort him for his loss (That isn't really a loss.) in a way that Lizzie or Mum and Dad surely can't. (But he most certainly doesn't.)

And then the waiting pays off.

Because when little Cecilia is 10 years old, she's kidnapped.

She's gone for 3 years (Just like Ciel.) and then she comes back, and Ciel is with her, just the same as he was nearly 15 years before. (Except for his eyes being red and sometimes glowing.) And he's their butler now, so Edward makes sensible use of his privileges and asks Ciel to come up to his room. (And he does this time.)

So Edward kisses Ciel senseless, and Ciel doesn't kiss back. That's not what a good thing for a servant to do, so Edward slaps him across the face. Ciel falls, but then he gets up. He looks like he wants more, so he gets more. The cycle keeps repeating, and then finally Ciel starts crying, silently, and he doesn't get up for a while this time.

Edward thinks it's best for Ciel to go to bed now.

But first, Ciel opens a window and lets a raven fly into his room.

The sounds coming from the servants' quarters are probably the wind, and definitely not the raven, but Edward decides to shoot the raven so it doesn't come back.

The raven comes back.

Ciel doesn't.

Cecilia doesn't either, and there's another funeral to attend to.

Ciel isn't there.

The raven is.

This time, Edward decides it isn't worth waiting.

As the poison starts to take effect, Edward dreams of being with Ciel and Cecilia in hell.

It's the last thing he ever dreams.
