I know I should be working on my other fics, and I am, I promise. Christmas was mildly hectic, so I didn't get much time to write.

This is a one shot, inspired by a Fan pic where Danny and Sam were both kneeling down, in what I think was a school hallway. They seemed to have run into each other (Literally) and knocked the other over. They were picking the books up, and grabbed the same one. You might know the one I'm talking about, you might not. Either way, this was inspired by it.

'Aw crud, I'm gonna be late! How does this happen to me on the first day of high school?'

Danny tore down the stairs, nearly bowling over Jazz- "Danny! Watch it!"- before running into the kitchen to try and grab something to eat.

How this happened to him was actually quite a good question. He'd taken every precaution he'd been able to, to prevent this from happening. Getting an alarm clock, (Three of them, actually.) getting a watch, fixing the alarm on that, even asking his dad to get him up on time!

So how did he get into his current situation?

'd had a nightmare, and at one point had waved one of his arms around rather wildly. It had given on of the clocks a tremendous sideways blow, sending it flying into one of the other clocks. So that took out two of them.

2. The remaining clock had actually had quite drained batteries, due to the fact that it was also a radio, and he had had it on far too much lately. It had run out during the night. So that was the third alarm clock out.

3. His watch had been on his arm. During his aforementioned nightmare, he had smashed it against the headboard, rather hard.

In case you hadn't figured it out already, Danny tended to be rather oblivious while he was asleep.

4. His father had eaten some fudge almost as soon as he had gotten up. The instant fudge entered Jack Fenton's mouth, two things it happened. The fudge vanished, and Jack forgot everything he was just thinking.

And he had just so happened to be thinking that he should go wake Danny up, like he had been asked.

So that was why Danny was now running unbelievably late. And also why he was just plain running. Very fast.

He came barrelling through the front doors of the school and continued sprinting as hard as he could. He had to slow down because of a crowd though. If it hadn't been the A-list, he wouldn't have slowed.

He still kept up quite a pace however. So when he came tearing around a corner that just so happened to have someone in his direct path, he found himself unable to stop.

"OOF!"

"OUCH! Watch it why don't you?"

"Sorry!" He quickly picked himself up, kneeling down to grab the person's books, as well as his own. He extended his hand towards one of them, at exactly the same time that they did. Danny glanced up, intending to tell them he had it, and simply stopped.

Amethyst eyes gazed back at his sky blue ones with exactly the same emotions in them. Surprise, a tiny hint of annoyance, and something that neither one of them could quite identify.

Danny swallowed nervously, still trying to pull himself away from those eyes.

He would have found it impossible had not the bell rung, jerking both of them to the real world.

"Uh, here're your books. Sorry, but I gotta run!" He quickly thrust the girl's books out to her, determined not to be late for class. He was about to run past her, but she grabbed his arm.

"Wait! Are you in Mr Lancer's English class? I don't know the way!" He sighed internally. Fantastic. Just his luck, to run into someone who needed guidance.

"Yes," he said impatiently. "That's where I'm going!"

"Oh! Lead on, then." He simply grabbed her hand and dragged her along behind him.

"Name's Danny," he called out behind him.

"Samantha," came the reply. "But if you ever call me anything longer than Sam, your shins will be acquainted with my boots!"

Hope you liked.

I plan to have a new chapter for Return of Phantom up by New Year.
