Seven years into their relationship, Seamus and Dean are twenty-four and watching as their friends settle down around them when the country legalizes marriage equality.
Dean and Seamus wind up attempting to propose to each other in the same day. Dean gets there first, which Seamus seems to think gives him eternal rights to complain. Every time he tries to tell Seamus to do the dishes, Seamus returns with "I'm not doing the dishes for you; you upstaged my proposal."
At this point, Dean wishes he'd let Seamus go first.
They're married three months later. It's a small group, just close friends and family — Seamus's mum comes without his stepdad, which isn't as surprising as maybe it should be. His da is there, although he stays as far away from his mum as possible — also not surprising. Dean's mum and stepdad and stepsisters are all there, grinning proudly. They both wear suits, and borrow traditions both magical and Muggle alike. Seamus has always been optimistic, but his optimism is currently at a lifetime high.
And, God, Seamus never knew he could be this happy.
He's loved Dean for literal years, and he didn't think it mattered to him that they couldn't get married, until they could.
But then Dean asks if he's ever thought about kids, and honestly, Seamus never figured he could have them, considering he's as gay as Dumbledore and not really willing to compromise on that.
Then Dean tells him that Muggles have a way around this — that they could have a kid that's biologically one of theirs, without either of them having to have sex with a girl.
And, God, Seamus never knew he could get even happier.
"I want that, with you," he tells Dean, and Dean beams.
They see a lot of doctors and save a lot of money and they both donate sperm and tell the doctors they want it to be a surprise.
Then they wait. And wait. And wait. It takes ages and tons of paperwork, but finally they get notified that their baby is growing inside of someone.
Then they get notified to come to the hospital.
When she is born, she has skin as pale as the moon and piercing sapphire eyes and a shock of red, red hair. Dean grins at Seamus.
"Guess that answers that, then."
Seamus grins back, then stares at the little girl in the labelled crib.
"Zaira. Her name is Zaira."
Dean smiles softly. "Zaira. I like that."
And, God, Seamus never knew happiness like this existed.
