Jealousy- Mickra

For HolaReader2001

Mara was over the moon.

"Hey, Nina!" the brunette ran up to her American friend, "What time is it?"

"Quarter past five," Nina yawned. Mara had been pestering her all day, just because she was the one with an accurate watch.

"Ooh! Mick should be here soon!" Mara grinned. Her ex-boyfriend was visiting from Australia, and Mara had been jumping around all day, humming, even singing.

There was a sound like a door opening.

"Hey. . . Vera, was it?" a deep British voice asked out in the hallway. Mara smiled widely and ran out. Spotting the blond boy (who was now considerably more tanned than he used to be), she stumbled along the hall, wearing the biggest smile anyone had ever seen on her face.

"Mick!" she squealed, launching herself into his arms.

"Hey, Mara!" Mick chuckled, "Good to see you. It's been a while."

Mara was practically in heaven, until. . .

"Who's she?" Mara asked, annoyed, pulling herself out of Mick's arms.

The girl in question was tall, tanned, bottle blonde and wearing a short rainbow dress.

"Hey," she said in a strong but still feminine Australian accent, "I'm Jo. Short for Joanna."

"I'm Mara," Mara said irritatedly.

"Oh, Mara, Mick's mentioned you!" Jo said, "You are very pretty!"

Mara grimaced.

"Erm. . . I need to go study," she made her excuses and got up to leave.

"Wait, Mara!" Mick said. Mara turned round.

"Yes Mick?" she said sweetly.

"Would you like to go to a film with me later?" he asked

"A film? Just me and you?" Mara asked, smiling once more.

"Well, and Jo of course," Mick said, and Mara's face instantly fell.

"I'm busy," she said, before running upstairs and slamming the door.

…...

"How dare she?" Mara yelled angrily, "How dare she come in here and steal my boyfriend? I knew there was a reason why he broke up with me!"

Mara jumped on her bed and pulled her green butterfly print cover over her head.

A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" Mara called.

"Mick," a voice answered.

"Access denied."

Mick opened the door anyway.

"Mara?" he said softly.

"What do you want?" Mara growled.

"Mara, you've been acting weird ever since I came in. What's up?" Mick asked.

"You want to know what's wrong?" Mara flipped the cover off of her and sat up, "Jo's what's wrong!"

"Jo?" Mick asked, confused.

"Yes Jo!" Mara said exasperatedly, " She's everything a guy could want: tall, blonde, tanned, has a cute accent. But, no, don't you worry about me. I'm sure Jo will be there to comfort you."

"You. . . you think I like Jo?" Mick spluttered.

"Isn't it obvious," Mara said irritatedly.

"Mara, I don't have feeling for Jo," Mick said softly, "And, besides, Jo has a boyfriend."

"She. . . she does?" Mara asked.

"Yeah, course she does," Mick said, "It's you I want to be with."

"Oh," Mara said, getting up, "I. . . I want to be with you too."

"So, will you be my girl?" Mick asked.

"Yes!" Mara replied excitedly. Mick pulled her into his arms and kissed her passionately on the lips.

When they pulled away, Mara grinned.

"You know you said about that film date?" Mara said.

"Yeah?" Mick asked.

"My schedule just opened up."
