The Son of Neptune

Prologue: Percy

We sat there on the landing pad, waiting for any sign that they were coming. Next to me was Jason, son of Jupiter. A few weeks ago, he had been sent ahead of an envoy from the camp I was only starting to remember. Last week we had started to watch the skies for the shape of a Greek ship flying in. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the pen that was my only physical tie to my old life apart from my orange camp T-shirt and necklace. I uncapped it, and gave an experimental swing of my sword Riptide. "You want to practice while we wait?" Jason gave a grunt that I took as a yes. He hadn't been very talkative lately, ever since the mix-up with Reyna. I felt sorry for him, and though I didn't remember them clearly, I felt like he was going through things that where familiar to me. We fought for a while. I won…every time. I still didn't know exactly how that worked. Jason said that Annabeth would tell me when the envoy got here. Again I felt a twinge of sympathy for Jason. He managed to disarm me, and he finally won a fight.

Annabeth

I've been at Camp Half-Blood since I was seven, and the Hephaestus cabin still amazes me. They worked so fast it was scary. Within a month the Argo II had a skeleton. A separate unit had been dedicated to making all the smaller parts that would complete it later. Within three months it looked like an undecorated Greek ship. Of course, as the entire cabin would tell you, that was the easy part. It took them 2 whole months to add in the armor, and another half month to figure out small problems with the hull. In the end though, they finished with about a day to spare before the solstice. That night, the entire camp came to see it in Bunker 9. And it really was "one spankin' hot war machine." There had to be more weapons on there than in the rest of the camp combined. Chiron made a speech, and said that the ship was the "best thing to come out of the Hephaestus cabin in centuries." Trust me, he would know.

Hey guys. I know that this isn't the best thing ever written, and it's only a one-shot, but I'm working on an alternate story-line fic that should be better in general.

It's going to have blood, gore, mild language and some possible sexual references, but I don't know what rating that would be. Help?
