It hit her like an unexpected wave would, it send her toppling over in surprise. Metaphorically speaking, of course. She chose her next words very carefully "No, you wish" She watched him carefully then, he denied it of course, that came as no surprise but she chose to dive right in. The deep end. "Do you like me?" He would deny it, it wouldn't be true, it couldn't be true.

"Define like."

This was not happening. The great Chuck Bass was practically admitting he liked her. No, no, no! In a way she felt great, superior. She had made the great Chuck Bass actually like a girl. Then in a way she felt guilty. Chuck and her had always been, god forbid it, friends and she didn't really want to lead him on and then there was Nate. Oh her darling, Nate.

"How do you think I feel? I can't sleep, I feel sick. Like there's something in my stomach. Fluttering."

If she felt superior, worried and surprised before now she felt it times a hundred. Fluttering, fluttering, fluttering. She knew the feeling, your stomach knots into two and then it suddenly feels all light and empty except for the flutter flutter flutter. She felt it every time Nate used to walk past her when they were kids and sometimes even now but Chuck Bass could not have butterflies for her. It was one thing to like her. That was entirely different to having butterflies for her. Wasn't it?

She told him he had to murder them. They couldn't be alive, now. Fluttering about the world, wrecking havoc on everything. He would soon forget everything and then her and Nate would get back together and pretend like she had never slept with Chuck Bass.

"Fine. It wasn't that great."

That felt like a slap across the face. It hurt, it stung. She regretted last night more then anything right now. In the morning she had regretted it deeply, not knowing what had come over her but she had thought that at least she had, had fun and it didn't hurt that much and while it started out rough and passionate it led to something sweet and gentle. She wiped the thoughts from her mind, she would not think about last night. Because it didn't happen. Chuck would murder those butterflies and bed another girl and she would be with Nate once again. And then they'd sleep together, and that would feel like she was really losing her virginity. She had never given it to Chuck Bass because it wasn't for him to take. It was for Nathaniel Archibald.
