What's up, my peeps! Now this one-shot is a little... different from the others. It's a Kataang one-shot, but... Aang's not in it. You might be asking, dude, how can you have a Kataang one-shot without Aang in it? Well here it is! Now, when I watch the last couple episodes of Avatar (Ember Island Players to the finale), I always wonder how Katara's feelings just kind of... switched. In the Ember Island Players, she was confused, and then she just kissed him in the finale? I know, I know, I already made a story called Confessions and Reunions, that explains that detail. BUT, this is a new spin on it. Now what does that have to do with Aang not being in the story? Well, this takes place during the second part of the finale: The Old Masters. This is the one where they meets the members of the White Lotus, and Zuko reunites with his uncle *sob*. This takes place during one night when the Gaang is staying where the White Lotus is (aka old people camp). You'll see, you'll see.

Disclaimer: I know you know, that I know, that you know, that I know, that we know, that I don't own Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Question for this chapter: Would you redeem Azula or nah? (I think it would be cool if she could be redeemed and join Team Avatar.)

Enjoy!

Katara tossed and turned in her sleeping bag. Ironically, the grass at the White Lotus camp was much less comfortable then the floor at the Western Air Temple. But that wasn't the only reason why she couldn't sleep. She was worried about Aang. He just... ran away, without saying anything. She knew he was frustrated, but how could he leave like that? And right before the most important battle of his life? She didn't get it. But again, this wasn't the only thing on her mind.

She got up from her sleeping bag, and made her way over to her brother. Katara shook his shoulder lightly.

"Sokka?"

He stirred for a moment before opening his eyes to see his sister with a worried look in her face.

"Wha- Katara? What are you doing up? It's the middle of the night."

"I couldn't sleep. Can I... talk to you about something?"

He sighed, and grudgingly stood up to join his sister.

They took a walk away from the camp.

She hadn't said anything, so Sokka took the initiative in the conversation.

"So... what's up?"

Katara stopped walking, and looked down at the ocean under the cliff. "I can't stop thinking about Aang."

He put a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, it's alright. We're all worried about him."

She stomped her foot into the dead grass beneath her. "No it's not, Sokka!" Tears started to roll down her cheeks. "I..I said something terrible back at Ember Island, and I didn't mean to say it. And now he might be dead, not knowing how I feel and how much... how much I..."

Sokka couldn't find the words to comfort his little sister. But he knew what she wanted to say. So instead of comforting her, he pushed Katara further. "How much you what?"

She was silent, and Sokka gave her shoulder a squeeze. "How much you what, Katara?"

Katara threw her fists at the floor and tears flooded from her eyes. "How much I love him!"

Waves thrashed against the cliff beneath the two siblings, and Sokka used his arms to shield himself from the droplets of waters falling on both of the them.

The waterbender was on her knees, clenching the grass that now was ripped up from the ground. He sat down to her level and gave her a hug.

She didn't hug him back, just leaned into his embrace. "I don't know what to do, Sokka. I'm so scared, and hopeless. I just want Aang to come back."

He rubbed her back. "We all do sis, we all do."

They broke from her hug, and Katara wiped the remaining tears from her eyes.

Sokka sighed. "You really love him, don't you?"

Katara shook her head. "You don't understand Sokka. We've been through so much, and I-I said something so stupid at that horrible play, if he is alive, he probably never wants to see me." She looked back up, meeting is blue eyes with hers. "I love him more than you could ever imagine. He... he means the world to me."

Sokka gave her a faint smile. "It'll be alright, Katara. Aang will come back... he has to."

She looked back at her big brother, who was still smiling at her. She couldn't help but smile back.

"You're right. Thanks, Sokka."

He stood up, holding his hand out to hers. "No problem, now let's get you back to the camp."

She gratefully accepted his hand and they started walking back.

One the way there, Sokka got a little curious. "If you know how you feel about Aang, why did you say what you said about him?"

Katara sighed. "I guess, I was afraid of the future. I knew I had feelings for him, but I couldn't bring myself to say it. It wasn't the right time."

Sokka again rested his hand on his sister's shoulder. "Don't worry, Katara. When Aang comes back, and he ends the war. It'll be the right time."

She turned her head to her hopeful brother. "How can be so sure?"

"I just have this feeling. Aang knows what's at stake. He fights for his nation, us, and for you. And I'm pretty sure that he would fight a hundred Firelords for you," he smirked at her.

Katara smiled again with hope. And looked at her brother with a raised eyebrow. "You know, it's nice when you break from that annoying persona and being genuine for once."

Sokka laughed. "Oh believe me, that'll come back soon."

Katara sighed. "Well, it was good while it lasted, thanks Sokka."

And Katara slept the rest of the night, with hope for the future, and for Aang.

Whew! This one took a lot of brainpower! And it was pretty emotional. Hope you felt something from it. I'm not the best at emotional writing, but this is one of my favorites. Do you want a part two? Tell me! I'd love to make some type of a new reunion different from the one! Any suggestions for future stories would be great! I love to incorporate different ideas from me writers. Expect another addition from After the War soon! See ya later, my peeps!
